Drinks To Celebrate St. Patrick's Day 2022

St. Patrick’s Day is on the horizon, which means it’s time to start planning your celebrations. When people think about St. Patrick’s Day drinks, the first thing that often comes to mind is a pint of Guinness and a shot of Jameson. While those are definitely good choices (we’ll certainly be having one — or three— on the big day), St. Patrick’s Day drinks can actually be a whole lot more.

If you’re looking to shake things up this St. Patrick’s day, here are a few cocktails to try:

Proper Coffee Drop

  • .75 oz Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey

  • .25 oz Coffee Liqueur

  • 10 oz Irish Stout

Pour Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey Irish Whiskey and coffee liqueur and into a shot glass and drop into a pint glass of Irish Stout.

As one of the most celebrated holidays globally, St. Patrick’s Day is all about bringing people together, and what better way to do that than by raising a glass of Elysian Brewing’s best-selling Space Dust IPA (8.2% ABV), which balances bitterness with the sweetness of grapefruit, mango and orange aromas.

If you’re searching for “something green” to bring to your St. Patrick’s Day party, look no further! Space Dust’s iconic green mascot, Dusty, featured on every can and bottle, is here to help you avoid the pinch. Plus, the Elysian team has released an easy-to-make festive drink recipe called the Irish Astronaut, which cleverly features 50% Nitro Irish Stout and 50% Space Dust IPA.

This St. Patrick’s Day, skip the stouts and shots and celebrate Ireland in luxury. Glendalough Distillery is the first Irish whiskey brand to use the rare and exotic Mizunara oak, where the woods of Wicklow meet the island of Hokkaido in the form of a rare, exquisite whiskey. Unlock Glendalough 7-Year-Old Single Malt Mizunara Finish – the key to your best, most elevated St. Patrick’s Day yet!

Mizunara’s rarity makes sourcing a great undertaking, but Glendalough was ready for the challenge of being the first Irish whiskey to utilize this oak. The trunks of these uniquely beautiful trees are prone to growing twisted, and they must grow to be twice the age of most oak trees before they can be felled. It then takes three years to dry, and even then, is notoriously difficult to cooper due to its porousness. However, therein lies its saving grace: whiskey can seep deeper into the wood, resulting in an alluring, exotic flavor.

Tullamore D.E.W. Irish Whiskey

St. Paddy’s Day is almost here, and with nearly 200 St. Paddy’s Days under its belt, Tullamore D.E.W. Irish Whiskey knows a thing or two, not only about celebrating the holiday itself, but how to actually spell it. Year in and year out, Americans seem to get it wrong, opting for the use of the double T instead of the double D…

To offer a tasty spelling lesson, Tullamore D.E.W. has partnered with acclaimed American butcher Pat LaFrieda to create the ultimate St. Paddy’s Day Patty to help fans from making the common spelling mistake between a meat patty and Ireland’s national holiday.

The specialty St. Paddy’s Day Patty is made up of a proprietary blend made by Pat himself and inspired by Tullamore D.E.W. Beginning Thursday, March 10th, 193 kits will be made available via LaFrieda.com nodding to the 193-year history behind the Tullamore D.E.W. brand.

For some, when hearing "morning drinks" the first thing that pops into their mind is Fruhschoppen! It's a real German tradition where you drink beer in the morning. The usual go-to beer is a light & fruity hefeweizen wheat beer , Schofferhofer Grapefruit Hefeweizen beer.

It's a refreshing & delicious combo of 50% real German hefeweizen and 50% grapefruit juice. And with a lower 2.5% ABV, Schofferhofer Grapefruit Hefeweizen is the perfect morning libation. Nero d'Avola is a great everyday red, a full-bodied dry wine exuding fruity aromas (berries, cherries, and plum) followed by notes of pepper.

It has a good balance between the alcoholic and the acidic component, with the tannins’ impact that can sometimes be fairly intense. Nero is perfect with pasta for a late brunch or early lunch pairing.

Nero d'Avola Riserva is among the most popular options when it comes to choosing an important red. Doc Sicilia has introduced this typology in 2015, indicating a minimum of two years for the aging process.

Compared to the Nero d’Avola, the Riserva has a ruby tone that steers toward garnet color, has a more intense flavor of red fruits and has a longer lasting finish. Nero d’Avola Riserva is delicious when having a breakfast with meats and sausages.

Why You Should Drink Champagne This Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving isnext week and if your family is anything like ours, the whole evening is already being planned out, everyone is deciding what dishes they should bring, and what to drink. With so many different dishes being laid out, and realistically everyone eating whatever they want, what champagne will pair best with Thanksgiving dinner? Read below and check out a few of our suggestions.

Drink Champagne This Thanksgiving

Champagne of course! It is the universal favorite and a classic. Thanksgiving is a celebration and Champagne the end all be all when it comes to celebratory drinks. NASCAR drivers don’t pop bottles of Pinot Noir when they get first place, they pop Champagne. Yes that bubbly drink is the first choice of people who are enjoying life, which is why it pairs perfectly with a Thanksgiving Turkey, mashed potatoes, and any food baby you end up carrying by the end of the night. Plus just opening a bottle of Champagne has become an event of its own, fun for the full family, so long as you don’t hit anyone with the cork. If you need to know how to avoid shooting someone’s eye out this holiday season, here’s a guide to opening bottles of Champagne.

Why you should be drinking Champagne this Thanksgiving

To be technical though all those bubbles really help with pairing Champagne with foods, they help keep the palate fresh and open to the food. Its light style makes going from a mouthful of stuffing to a sweet potato casserole, to cranberry sauce more enjoyable than it already is.  If you’re already looking at Champagnes just know that Champagnes may vary in sweetness and body, but as a general rule, a dry Brut is the safest bet. It’s typically highly acidic, tart, and refreshing, which means it’s the best palate cleanser you could possibly ask for.

Cielo

If you want to dress up your table, no bottle will look better than Sterling Vineyards.  Clad in silver and rose gold, theBlanc de Blancs and Sparkling Rosé from Sterling are ready to present at any seasonal soirée. Available individually for $28 at retailers nationwide, the chic twosome can also be purchased in a gift set, packaged in a sleek black linen box for $75. These bottles will dress up any table throughout the holidays

With the mad rush of menu and party planning, make things a little bit easier with advice from a Thanksgiving pro: Blake Leonard.  Blake Leonard is the daughter of Stew Leonard Jr., and the head of Wine Marketing for Stew’s Wines. While prepping: Blake suggests taking the edge off and finding yourself a little piece of heaven with Cielo Prosecco ($9.99). Cielo, which translates to heaven is Blake’s go-to drink this season. Drink on its own or pair with Aperol for a refreshing spritz.

Moët & Chandon Nectar Impérial Rosé

Moët & Chandon Nectar Impérial Rosé

While looking for a drink to go with dessert we recommend Closing out the evening with Moët & Chandon Nectar Impérial Rosé (SRP $50), a demi-sec champagne to play off the sweetness of an assortment of pies

If you’re willing to splurge on a really nice aged bottle of Champagne you’ll really get to enjoy the more earthy and autumnal aspects of the drink, which is pretty fitting when you consider what Thanksgiving is all about. Only warning is that if you’re the one buying, and you want to have more than one glass you should knock the first one back quickly. Once you’ve opened a bottle of Champagne you never really need to worry about not finishing it.
