Attems, a name synonymous with the history of wine in Friuli Venezia Giulia, embodies a millenary tradition in Collio and since 2000 it has been proudly owned by the Frescobaldi family, who continue to honor and innovate upon its distinguished heritage.

Stretching across 44 hectares in the Gorizia area, the Attems estate is located in an idyllic environment, which makes Friuli Venezia Giulia one of Italy's premier grape-growing regions.

Scharffenberger Brut Excellence Rosé The Scharffenberger Brut Excellence Rosé is a captivating blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, and is the ideal combatant to the heat. This exquisite sparkling wine is known for its crisp, dry, and complex taste, offering delightful aromas of persimmon and raspberry, and vibrant flavors of white-raspberry and white-peach. The wine's taut acidity, combined with its mesmerizing rose gold bubbles, offers a refreshing balance, making it a perfect companion to a hot summer day.

La Fête du Blanc is the newest line from La Fête Wine Company, the makers of luxury rosé La Fête du Rosé. La Fête du Blanc was initially introduced in 2021 as a limited-release white wine and, due to its popularity, has since become a permanent offering. It is made in partnership with the prestigious winemakers from Château Saint-Maur, situated in the Golf de St. Tropez. The blend of the 2022 vintage is 65% Rolle, 26% Viognier, and 9% Colombard. Besides the great taste, setting the wine apart is that the company donates a portion of the proceeds from every bottle sold to various programs that send underserved youth on unique travel experiences.

Château de Pennautier, Cabardès 2020 The vineyard is situated on the sunny, south-facing lower slopes of the Montagne Noire, at between 200 and 300 meters of altitude. South facing, on limestone soils. Ruby colour. Candied fruit and sweet spiced scents. On the palate, pepper, cloves and dark fruit aromas. Light tannin end notes which leave lasting and fresh tastes. Perfect with grilled meats, roasts, poultry, and hard cheeses.

That Maxime Magnon is part of one of the most revolutionary wine movements in France should give him a justifiable swagger to his step, yet he is nonetheless a reluctant hero. Most of Maxime’s vineyard land is comprised of schist and limestone subsoils in the sub-appellation Hautes Corbières, bordering Fitou to the South. This is incredibly tough terrain to farm in, as there is virtually no topsoil, just pure rock and garrigue. The Corbières “Rozeta” is a blend of these two district terroirs. This blend is particularly unique, from Carignan vineyards that are dispersed with numerous varietals of older vines, namely Grenache Gris, Macabou, and Terret, which are all picked and fermented together—a true field blend of the old school. “La Démarrante” is a blend of Carignan, Grenache, and Syrah. It is terrific young and deliciously quaffable. Maxime’s tête de cuvé, “Campagnès,” is a single vineyard of the hundred-year-old Carignan, and is the most age-worthy in his line-up. All wines are aged in second-hand, Burgundian barrels sourced from a producer in Chassagne. “La Démarrante” ages both in cuve and in foudre. His wines offer great expression of fruit with immediate approachability.

Domaine Ventenac Cuvee Diane Rosé - Delicate and fruity on the nose with notes of red berries. Fresh and lively on the palate with remarkable length. Olivier and Stephanie Ramé took over the domaine from Stephanie’s father in 2010 and have become a driving force behind the quality and credibility of the Cabardès appellation. They now own approximately 130 hectares of land, which primarily consists of white limestone soil, unique to the region. Their vineyards are farmed organically (certified as of the 2021 vintage) and vinified plot by plot, using indigenous yeasts and little to no sulfites. Heavily influenced by his travels throughout the winemaking world, Olivier has begun to use amphorae (terracotta) for aging and is focused on the unique terroir of each parcel. Olivier describes his wines as being pure, fresh and “without makeup,” showcasing the soul and potential of the region.

CHÂTEAU HAUT GLÉON APPELLATION D’ORIGINE PROTÉGÉE CORBIERES - a deep, brilliant pink colour with raspberry reflections. Intense on the nose, dominated by raspberry and blackcurrant fruit. Powerful and rich in flavour on the palate (wild strawberries, mild spices) with a long, fruity finish. Ideal with spicy dishes, tapas, grilled meat or dessert with strawberries. Serve 12°C.

Argentina is known for Malbec. While it’s true that the South American country transformed a mostly forgotten French grape into a popular red wine, it has become pigeon-holed into the red wine category.

Luckily, a white wine revolution has been taking place in the domestic market, and the world is now filled with high-quality white wines ranging from the native Torrontés grape to Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and more. As inflation keeps prices very high, these refreshing options are unbeatable substitutes for expensive Burgundies and California whites that cost over $100!

Susana Balbo Signature Barrel Fermented Torrontés 2022 Innovation is one of the pillars of Susana Balbo Wines. This wine was the first of its style, fermented in French oak barrels (compared to steel tanks), and showcasing Argentina’s native grape in new clothes. This wine boasts a golden hue with fragrant notes of tropical fruits, especially lychee, and complex hints of citrus, lemon peel, and delicate floral aromas. The palate is silky and harmonious, with high acidity balanced by intense fruit flavors. Despite its round texture, it is unmistakably Torrontés at its finest!

Osmosis Sauvignon Blanc 2022 , Osmosis Wines crafts premium wines made from sustainably-farmed, estate vineyards located in Agrelo and Alto Agrelo, Mendoza in Argentina. The winery is changing the game by creating wines with 85-90 calories per 5oz serving with zero sugar and low alcohol, all while maintaining fresh and full flavors. This Sauvignon Blanc is bright and crisp with notes of grapefruit, citrus and passion fruit, and is naturally dry with zero sugar but has a hint of sweetness from pineapple flavors (thanks to the latest harvest). The wines are certified gluten-free and vegan.

Argento Artesano White Malbec 2020 You read that right: White Malbec. Bodega Argento has given the U.S. market its first-ever white Malbec, made with 100% organic grapes, and it is made in the ‘Blanc de Noir’ technique for a racy, bright end result. The grapes are pressed immediately with no skin contact and fermented in stainless steel, resulting in a wine with powerful aromas of green apple, citrus and white flowers, a delicate, yet structured and fresh, palate, and, underlying minerality that provides a sense of place This wine is pressed directly off the skins with aromas of green apple, citrus, white flowers and mineral notes.

Viña Cobos Vinculum Chardonnay 2019 , Viña Cobos makes wines that are authentic expressions of the terroir from which they come. Paul Hobbs, founding partner and winemaker at Viña Cobos, has worked since 1988 in the exploration of the different terroirs of Mendoza, looking for the most distinguished regions in Luján de Cuyo and the Valle de Uco, to produce wines that uniquely express their origins. The Vinculum Chardonnay is a beautiful wine made with 100% Chardonnay grapes sourced from the Uco Valley at high elevation 3,330 to 3,845 feet. Aged for 12 months in new French oak this wine offers aromas of green apple, apricots and hints of cinnamon achieving great purity and intensity.

Otronia Block III & VI Chardonnay 2020, Born in the harsh climates of Patagonia, Argentina, this 100% Chardonnay from Otronia is defined by its freshness, depth, vitality, flavor and long persistence. The natural acidity of the Patagonian terroir gives it a very attractive character and tension, and also guarantees a long-life aging in the bottle. It is a rare treat to behold, born on the edge of impossible.

Fight the Record Heat with These Sustainably Produced South African Chilled Orange Wines

Annabella Pardo

You don’t have to read the news to understand we’re experiencing record heat across the world.

While winemakers, growers, and producers work together to fight climate change through sustainable practices, consumers can help beat the heat, support their efforts, and explore trending wines with skin-contact whites from South Africa.

Why Orange Wine? For starters, it’s best served chilled and is made from white grapes that produce refreshing, energetic aromas and flavors that are perfect for that afternoon slump. For people who love red wine and would like to slowly explore white wines, Orange Wine is also a good choice since it has subtle tannins reminiscent of red wines! While big red wines are difficult to swallow in 100 degrees, chilled Orange Wines are the best substitute out there!

Photo via @lubanziwines

Lubanzi Orange Wine Is Skin Contact 2022 Lubanzi was founded in 2016 by two young friends who set out to create a ‘locally run, globally minded’ business that would highlight the magnetism of South Africa while delivering top notch wines such as this orange Chenin Blanc. Lubanzi is certified sustainable, organic and dedicated to carbon neutrality, and the business partnered with The Pebbles Project, a not for profit that provides health & education resources directly back to the families who live and work on South Africa's wine farms.

This wine is uniquely complex with subtle tannins, crisp acidity, and notes of citrus zest, apricot, honey and chamomile to help relax you on those sunny afternoons.

Photo via @bosmanwines

Bosman Family Vineyards Fides Grenache Blanc 2019 The Bosman’s aren’t new to wine. Since 1707, eight generations of stewards have cared for the land and community as a whole. Orange wines are much older than Bosman though, having originated thousands of years ago in Georgia and Northern Italy where white grapes ferment on their skins to produce highly concentrated wines that are also just as refreshing as Provence Rosé’s or New Zealand Sauvignon Blancs.

This 100% Grenache Blanc is souced from bush vines and has notes of waxy orange peel, marzipan, bruised apple and lasting complexity.

A.A. Badenhorst Secateurs Riviera 2021 Located on Paardeberg Mountain, A.A. Badenhorst overlooks the Swartland, cousins Hein and Adi Badenhorst source their Chenin Blanc from 50+ year old un-irrigated bush vines that are naturally low-yielding, producing tremendous quality and concentration. Conscientious farming and natural wine processes guide them as they restore the neglected cellar and vineyards.

The 2021 skin contact Chenin Blanc is incredibly textured and has aromas of bruised peaches, rhubarb and custard sweets and earl grey tea with a chalky and long finish.

Breaking the Mold: How Single Grain Whisky Is Disrupting Traditional Blends

Whisky has been a staple of the spirits industry for centuries, with traditional blends being the go-to choice for many whisky enthusiasts. This lesser-known whisky variety is quickly gaining popularity among connoisseurs and casual drinkers alike and for good reason. Loch Lomond’s single grain whisky is breaking the mold of traditional blends by offering a unique flavor profile and production process that sets it apart from its peers.

In this blog post, we will explore the fascinating world of single-grain whisky and why it is causing a disruption in the industry. We will examine the origins of this type of whisky, how it differs from traditional blends, and what makes it so special. We will also delve into the production process of single-grain whisky, including the types of grains used and the techniques involved in distilling and aging.

Uncovering Single Grain Whisky's Uniqueness

Single-grain whisky is a type of whisky that is crafted using a single-grain type, such as corn, wheat, or rye, and distilled in a continuous still. While traditionally blended whiskies often feature a mix of grains and are aged in oak casks for several years, single-grain whiskies are aged for a shorter period and carry a unique character that sets them apart from their blended counterparts.

The emergence of single-grain whiskies in the market has disrupted the traditional understanding of whiskies, challenging the notion that only blended whiskies can offer complexity and depth of flavor. In fact, single-grain whisky's uniqueness lies in its ability to showcase the distinct flavors and aromas of a particular grain, resulting in a crisp and clean taste that is both refreshing and satisfying.

Redefining Traditional Whisky Blends

For decades, traditional blends of malt and grain whisky have dominated the market, but innovative distillers are now redefining what a blend can be. By using a single grain, such as wheat or corn, as the base of their whiskies, these distillers are creating new flavor profiles and challenging long-held assumptions about what makes a great blend.

Single-grain whiskies are often smoother and sweeter than traditional blends, with a wider range of subtle flavors that are more accessible to new whisky drinkers. As the popularity of single-grain whisky continues to grow, it is clear that this exciting trend is here to stay.

How Single Grain Whisky Differs

Single-grain whisky is a relatively new concept in the world of whisky, and it is disrupting traditional blends. Unlike blended whisky, single-grain whisky is made with a combination of different grains, such as corn, wheat, and barley, rather than just one grain. This results in a unique and complex flavor profile that is distinct from traditional blends.

Single-grain whisky is also typically aged in a single cask, which allows for more control over the maturation process and can result in a more consistent and refined product. Overall, single-grain whisky differs from traditional blends in its use of multiple grains and single-cask aging, resulting in a distinctive and exciting product that is gaining popularity among whisky enthusiasts.

Exploring New Flavour Profiles

Single-grain whisky is a category that has been gaining more attention in recent years as more distillers are exploring new flavor profiles. This category allows for greater experimentation with different cereals, yeast strains, and maturation techniques, resulting in complex and unique whiskies. By breaking the mold of traditional blends, single-grain whisky is challenging consumers' perceptions of what whisky should taste like and is carving out its own distinct niche in the market.

From fruity and spicy to sweet and smoky, the range of flavor profiles available in single-grain whisky is vast and diverse, appealing to a wide range of palates. As more distillers continue to push the boundaries of what is possible with single-grain whisky, we can expect to see even more exciting and innovative expressions in the future.

In Conclusion

The rise of single-grain whisky represents a significant disruption to the traditional whisky market. The unique flavor profiles and innovative distillation techniques employed by single-grain producers are attracting a growing number of consumers seeking something new and exciting. While traditional blends still dominate the market, it's clear that single-grain whisky is gaining traction and carving out a niche for itself.

As the whisky industry continues to evolve, it will be interesting to see how this disruption plays out and how traditional blends respond to the challenge posed by single-grain whisky.

ENGINE Gin is a unique Italian spirit born out of Barbaresco that is handcrafted with traditional Italian botanicals that are 100% organic, including Ligurian sage, lemon, licorice root, and damask rose. These botanicals are sourced all over the peninsula: water comes from the purest source, the Alps; the sage is cultivated in Alta Langa, Piedmont; lemons are Sicilian, while the licorice is sourced from Calabria and juniper berries are harvested in Tuscany. The freshness of these ingredients make every sip of ENGINE unique and irresistible.

ENGINE Gin stands out for its distinctly Italian flavors. On the nose, there are balsamic scents of juniper, completed with vivacious notes of lemon and intense sage. There is an elegant floral background with a slight bitterness from the sage on the palate, supported by sweet licorice root and damascus rose.

ENGINE is perfect for anyone looking to upgrade their cocktail creations or experiment with a fascinating array of botanicals just in time for summer!

2015 Roederer Estate L'Ermitage Brut, an amazing tête de cuvée that will be just perfect for all kinds of celebration during the sunny days ahead. Whether it is a backyard BBQ, a picnic in the park, or a festive gathering with friends, this sparkling wine made only in exceptional years from pre-selected, estate-grown grapes will add a touch of elegance and a celebratory vibe to these occasions, making them feel extra special.

The fine tiny bubbles and a long lasting mousse are the usual footprints of the L’Ermitage cuvée. Vibrant acidity, with notes of Asian pear, baked green apple, and a creamy mid palate and clean acid with a dry finish make this wine incredibly versatile when it comes to food pairings. The L’Ermitage 2015 can complement a wide range of dishes, from light salads and seafood to BBQ meats and cheese platters. The acidity and effervescence help enhance the flavors of various summer cuisines.

Carrying on the tradition of Champagne Louis Roederer in France, Roederer Estate in Anderson Valley, California, produces its sparkling wines in the French méthode traditionelle and adds special oak-aged reserve wines to each blend. L’Ermitage debuted with the 1989 vintage. The wine for the dosage added to the L’Ermitage 2015 was a 2015 wine liquor aged for 6 years in a French oak cask. Following disgorgement, L’Ermitage 2015 was aged an additional six months (minimum) on the cork prior to release.

2019 Château de Pez, a left-bank Bordeaux that is bursting with flavors of energetic black fruits, supported by a firm foundation of ripe, grainy tannins and lovely freshness.

Although St. Estephe Bordeaux bottles are often associated with fancy cuisine, there are plenty of casual foods that can be paired with these wines. Think of a juicy burger where the tannins of the wine can help to cut through the richness of the meat and cheese, while the fruit flavors can complement the ketchup and other condiments. Pizza (which you can make on the grill!) is also a great match for a Bordeaux red, which can help to balance out the acidity in the tomato sauce. For BBQ ribs, the smoky and sweet flavors can be complemented by the fruit flavors in the wine, while the tannins will help to cut through the fat. But the list goes one and even grilled vegetables and tacos will go great with Château de Pez too.

Photo via @ettorewinery

The Ettore Rosso 2018 is an elegant and silky wine, that's is jammy and plump, with blackberry and currant flavors highlighted by savory underbrush, licorice, and smoke notes, leading to medium-grained tannins. Additionally, the Ettore winery located in Mendocino, CA is always 100% organic in their wine-production practices.  Elegant and balanced, sip on alongside all your hearty grilling favorites like steak, burgers and kebabs!

Photo via @ettorewinery

Ettore 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Signature is the wine you are looking for. Dark purple in color, this wine instantly expresses rich notes of plum, blackberries and chocolate and fills the mouth with a clean smooth finish. Another great wine to accompany more of your typical backyard dishes such as nice barbecued ribs, lamb chops or even a juicy cheeseburger with some aged cheddar.

Valdo Marca Oro Prosecco DOC Made up of 75% Nerello Mascalese and 25% Glera grapes, this wine comes from the lower slopes of the Etna Volcano in Sicily, the Glera grapes coming from Prosecco. With red and black berry notes on the palate and fresh floral hints on the notes accompanied by just the right amount of "perlage" this wine is lovely, bright and refreshing.

Photo via @valdo_spumanti

Valdo Floral Rosé Made up of 100% Glera grapes and aged three months using the Charmat method with an extra one month in the bottle. This wine is a light straw color, with fruit forward notes on the nose and a light crisp palate, great for the summer time!

The winemakers at Pasqua have a” keenness for innovation and curiosity”, which is expressed in the wines that they create. Instead of letting history  be solely a thing of  the past,  they embrace the traditional Italian wine making methods and bring them to life. Famiglia Pasqua Valpolicella DOC Ripasso Superiore 2020 is a great representation of this idea. This wine is made using the traditional “Ripasso method”- this technique entails a double fermentation where 70% of the grapes are crushed and fermented immediately while the remaining 30% is dried for one month or more and then added back- creating a second fermentation.

Crimson-red in color, bursting with aromas of red fruits such as currants and cherries and subtle hints of toasted characteristics.  It is full bodied, robust with sweet and round tannins resulting from the “Ripasso method”. An absolutely pleasant wine that would be a great pairing for a summer barbeque or a nice roast lamb.

Photo via @pasquawines

Famiglia Pasqua Amarone Della Valpolicella DOCG 2017 is a  unique  example  of Pasqua’s ability to represent a classic Italian wine. Powerful and vibrant, this red is everything you would expect out of an Amarone style wine. With aromas of spice and cherry along with sweet notes of tobacco and vanilla. When it hits the mouth it offers a pleasant and velvety feel with smooth tannins and presents a long finish. It is ideal with meats, cheeses and hearty pastas.

Father’s Day is just around the corner. Why not spice it up with something a little different than the usual Father’s Day BBQ? Take Dad to Argentina with an Argentine Asado and a bottle of Unánime Signature Cabernet Sauvignon  from  Mascota Vineyards

Asado, which means “roasted” in Spanish, is a time-honored Argentinian culinary tradition that celebrates the art of grilling over an open flame on a parrilla. A parrilla is a type of outdoor grill that uses long cooking times over a low heat in order to tenderize even the toughest cuts of meat. Unlike the traditional American method of smoking meat, parrilla grills are over an open flame so the cooked meats have less wood smoke flavor than meats prepared in an enclosed offset smoker.

Argentinian beef is renowned worldwide, so it’s no surprise that beef, usually seasoned simply with salt,  is the main event of an asado. However, sausages (chorizo), lamb, and chicken are also often part of the traditional asado. To elevate this culinary experience, we are providing an authentic chimichurri recipe from Mascota. Chimichurri is a classic Argentinian sauce that is often served with asado as it adds a vibrant, tangy flavor to grilled meats.

Make this Father’s Day memorable with an Agentinian flare. Enjoy asado with chimichurri and Unánime Signature Cabernet Sauvignon, a perfect complement to the robust flavors of succulent slow cooked meats.

Unánime Signature Cabernet Sauvignon, a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, represents the best of Argentine winemaking excellence. Crafted with meticulous care in the prestigious Uco Valley, this Cabernet harnesses the essence of the land and embodies the spirit of Argentina's viticultural heritage. Its deep red color entices the eye, while the bouquet of mature red fruits captivates the nose. With the first sip, the wine unveils rich tannins and a balanced finish. Whether you are a seasoned wine enthusiast or a passionate lover of Argentine cuisine, Unánime Signature Cabernet Sauvignon promises an exceptional experience.

Inspired by the historical winemaking techniques of Erni Loosen’s great-grandfather, the Appassionata Riesling GG is made in the same way as the Dr. Loosen Grosses Gewächs (“Great Growth”) Rieslings he produces in
Germany. The GG designation indicates the wine dry-style produced from old vines planted in 1976 in Chehalem Mountains AVA. As Erni believes that ageability is one of the most important aspects of truly great wine, the Appassionata GG Riesling was held for five years in bottle before its recent release.

As a wine that was surely worth the wait, the Appassionata GG Riesling offers refreshing acidity, floral aromas, and flavors of lemon and marzipan, making it an excellent companion for an al fresco meal, day in the park or an impressive choice to pair with anything off the grill perfectly.

There is no comparison to the smoky essence of grilled foods, and the summer is the ideal time to enjoy them. Some guests may favor the side dishes at backyard barbecues, but Michaël Peltier, Senior Fine Wine Specialist for New York City fine wine and spirits retailer Millesima USA, is here to recommend a roster of California wines that are sure to become the stars of your next patio party.

Known for its expansive global inventory, white-glove service and wine expertise, Millesima USA is the destination for the world’s best wines, both in-store and online. The suggestions below will take any barbecue to the next level by perfectly complementing the cuisine:

The first wine Michaël recommends is Kistler Vineyards : Les Noisetiers 2021 which is produced from grapes grown in one of Sonoma County’s largest appellations. He explains, “The Sonoma Coast Chardonnay is full of rich fruit, bright lemon, and white flowers; the perfect accompaniment for grilling salmon or chicken.”

Photo via @Millesima

Ramey Wine Cellars : Cabernet Sauvignon 2016 Made in Napa Valley with care and craftsmanship that is reflective of Bordeaux, Ramay Cabernet Sauvignon is Millesima USA’s next suggestion. “An incredibly balanced, ready-to-drink Cabernet Sauvignon, ” says Michaël. “It is deep and rich with notes of dark berry fruit, cedar, leather, and licorice. The Ramey Cabernet calls for bold flavors such as a juicy filet mignon or a rustic wood fired pizza.

Photo via @domaineanderson

The final wine on Millesima USA’s list is Domaine Anderson Pinot Noir 2017. This red wine with a firm structure and elegant tannins comes from the unique region of Anderson Valley, and showcases the best of this California microclimate. Michaël states, “The cool climate of the Anderson Valley produces extraordinary Pinot Noir, and this wine’s structure and acidity create a framework for the savory and fruit-forward flavors. For anyone who loves blue cheese on a well-grilled burger, this is the wine to pair with it.”

If you are looking for perfect grilling wines, consider wines from boutique Napa winery Crosby Roamann. The proprietor Sean McBride and his wife Juliana are the proud parents of 15yo twin girls.Juliana, a literary editor, and Sean, a former film production assistant, believe that wine is a living thing that has transformative power – a bridge to the future, to the past, between people to share love, or to reminisce. For them, winemaking is a family affair – focused on making distinctive, limited allocation wines by hand with the greatest care, ensuring lively wines of character and a true sense of place.

Their passion stems from the belief that every vineyard is special, each vintage is unique, and every wine is distinct. Their hands-on, labor-intensive process ultimately creates wine with character and complexity. Here, wines are a bridge to the future – to be shared over many generations. The winery name is a melding of Sean's artistic grandmothers - Norma "Peachy" Crosby and Sally Roamann – one a stage performer in the 1920s, and the other, a poet. The team operates with the philosophy that wine is alive, and should be left to express itself, and live its unique life.

With that in mind, the winery creates sophisticated, small production wines by hand with minimal intervention from the vineyard to the cellar, where fermentation is encouraged with native yeasts, and natural winemaking techniques are exercised, forgoing most additives, filtration or fining.

The Estate Merlot comes from an old vine, dry-farmed vineyard. These big vines grow in a deep clay soil near a tributary of the Napa River. The fruit was manually sorted and fermented in stainless steel, then aged twenty months in French oak barrels, 33% new. Delicately sweet blackberry flavors with notes of soft leather and tobacco that lingers on the finish. 85% Merlot; 15% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Photo via @crosbyroamann

The Estate Cabernet is a very small production cuvee destined for eight plus years of bottle development, with at least three years to reach full maturity. With extraordinary purity of fruit, and delightful notes of cassis, dark cocoa, and blueberry, the wine finishes with a touch of spice.

Photo via @pejuwinery

If you’re a fan of grilling and wine, PEJU’S spice-rubbed grilled pork chop recipe is a must-try. The rub, made from a blend of Chef Nic’s carefully selected spices and herbs, infuses the juicy pork chop with bold, savory flavors that are impossible to resist. And when paired with a glass of PEJU Cabernet Franc or Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine’s fruity notes perfectly balance out the spice of the rub. But the perfect pork chop is just the beginning – their recipe also includes a side of crispy fingerling potatoes and tender broccolini, as well as a homemade salsa verde that adds a tangy, herbaceous finish to the dish. So fire up the grill and get ready to impress your guests with a meal they’ll be talking about for weeks to come.

Located in Valpolicella, the Zenato estate is run by the sibling pair of Nadia and Claudio Zenato who took over the operation from their father Sergio. The region is home to native grape varieties that the Zenato estate continues
to showcase and utilize in their wines. They blend modern philosophies with traditional techniques to create wines that are complex, full-bodied, and authentic to the region.

One Zenato wine that we feel is deserving of inclusion with the Best Red Wines is Zenato Alanera Rosso Veronese 2019. The name Alanera translates to black wing which is an homage to the raven (which is corvo in Italian). This reference corresponds with the native Corvina grape that is indigenous to the Valpolicella
region and a huge part of this wine. Brilliant ruby in color, Alanera delights the senses with a variety of aromas and flavors that include fresh and dried cherries and prunes, sweet spice, and hints of coffee and tobacco. On the palate, Alanera is full-bodied with elegant and velvety tannins. Vibrant acidity brings balance and freshness, and supports a long and harmonious finish.

Floral Rosé Brut There’s never a wrong time to enjoy rosé, but it’s an undeniably different experience in the warm weather. The Floral Rosé bottle alone encompasses springtime. This unique bottle by the visionary Italian designer Fabrizio Sclavi depicts the reconnection with a natural, uncontaminated world, animated by flowers and the wild. A blend of two native Italian grape varieties, Glera, the white variety used in the production of Prosecco, and Nerello Mascalese, a red variety typical of the warm Sicily. The result of this unusual combination is a delicate yet intensely perfumed rosé, fresh and elegant, which will charm you with its notes of blackberries and cherries and its fine perlage.

The Pinot Project Rose 2021 grapes for our Rosé come from the village of Vias, in the South of France, where twenty-plus-year-old vines are planted to rocky, volcanic soils. Upon harvest, the grapes are gently pressed, and the juice remains on the skins just long enough to give the wine a pale pink hue. The Rosé is vinified in stainless steel to preserve its mineral core and juicy freshness.

2022 Rose of Grenache Every year their Rosé flies off the shelves, but the 2022 vintage is particularly special, and each of them at Clif Family Winery has their own reason for loving it. Some of us admire the color, which they affectionately refer to as “ballet-slipper pink.” Others love the vibrant nature of the wine – bright, zippy notes of Anjou pear and watermelon seem to jump out of the glass onto the palate. For their winemaker, Laura Barrett, this wine’s versatility is hands-down its finest quality. She enjoys it alongside just about anything, from a plate of Smoked Salmon Bruschetta fresh off the Clif Family Bruschetteria Food Truck, to a fresh farm salad, or all on its own after a long day in the vineyards.

The bone dry wine still evokes a fruity, Jolly Rancher like watermelon quality on the nose.

Domaines Ott Château de Selle  A subtle balance between structure and finesse, this wine is a perfect illustration of the precision required to make a rosé, the rigorous process that celebrates the flesh of the fruit and the very heart of the grape. The wine is a reflection of the complexity of its limestone hillsides and arid soil; austerity bathed in dazzling sunshine. The Château de Selle Rosé combines various grape varieties from the Côtes de Provence appellation, including a majority of Grenache creating the delicate colour and vinous character. Belle Glos Oeil De Perdrix Blanc De Noir, 2022 Rather than being a byproduct of red wine, the grapes for this Rosé were grown specifically with the intention of making a Rosé Wine. The wine's delicate charm and intriguing complexity harmonize beautifully with bright, berry flavors and a crisp, refreshing structure. Belle Glos dedicates this Rosé to those who have battled breast cancer and donate a portion of sales toward ongoing research in the cure for cancer.

Elouan 2021 Rosé brings together fruit from three distinct terrains along Oregon’s premiere Western vineyards. The diversity of these cool climate areas combined with an elongated growing season creates a wine with intensity of fruit flavor, structure, and fresh vibrant acidity. This is a bespoke rosé where grapes were grown and harvested with the specific intention of making rosé, and not a saignée rosé, which can be a by-product of making red wine.  This wine should be enjoyed very well chilled.  It is finished with a screwcap to preserve the crisp, clean aromas and tastes and is a great choice for outdoor occasions: picnics, lunch on the patio, or enjoyed on its own as an aperitif.

Angels & Cowboys Brut Rosé is an all-California sparkler made with the traditional method of secondary fermentation. Using traditional Champagne grapes – 73% Pinot Noir, 25% Chardonnay, 2% Pinot Meunier, the fruit is sourced mostly from Mendocino and Sonoma counties. 12-months en tirage (aging on the lees), gives this berry-scented sparkler a creamy mouthfeel to balance the crisp acidity.

Angels & Cowboys Sonoma Country Rosé 2022 This rosé manages to combine the ripe fruit of Sonoma, with the crispness and pale color you expect from Provence. Made in a traditional style called "œil de perdrix" meaning partridge's eye in French, more commonly called Vin Gris - or grey wine - it is made with very little skin contact for a more delicate style.

2023 marks their third year of their ‘Pulling Corks and Filling Forks’ program, donating a portion of proceeds from every bottle of wine sold to World Central Kitchen (WCK), helping fund meals for those affected by natural and manmade disasters.

The wines are available direct from the winery, at wine.com and are nationally distributed at select retailers, including Whole Foods.
