“I could not be more thrilled to join The Beekman Regent family and help connect qualified buyers and renters with such warm, gracious homes,” said Schoppmann, ranked in the top 20 agents by gross commission income at Douglas Elliman. “The Beekman Regent represents the height of luxury and true New York experience. Not only is this building rich in history, but its design masterfully blends classical elegance with modern sophistication.”
The Beekman Regent earned the 2002 Mercedes Benz Property Award for the “Finest New Redevelopment in the World.” The building was originally constructed in 1893 by George W. Debevoise as a five-story school in a Romanesque Revival Style. In 2001, the Beekman International Center tapped Costas Kondylis of Kondylis Architecture to redevelop the former school into a 20-story luxury condominium reflective of the style of the Dakota. The original base remains, and earned the building a place on the National Register of Historic Places.
Sitting atop the timeless, pre-war building is The Penthouse Collection which offers a mix of oversized homes. Penthouse 2A is a 2,450 square foot, three-bedroom, three-bathroom duplex with two balconies and both Eastern and Western exposures, offered at $5,375,000. Penthouse 3C is an entertainer’s dream with 2,245 square feet spread across one level, encompassing three-bedrooms three and a half-baths for $5,250,000. For those in need of more space, Penthouse 7B offers nearly 3,000 square feet with sweeping city and river views, framed perfectly by oversized floor-to-ceiling windows, in addition to four-bedrooms, three and a half-baths, two private terraces and a wood-burning fireplace. Lastly, Penthouse 3B available for rent, is a jewel-box three-bedroom, three and a half-bath home with four extraordinary terraces.
All residential interiors at The Beekman Regent boast herringbone hardwood flooring, wainscotting and detailed molding throughout, all consistent with the building’s history. With a prime location on the corner of East 51st Street and 1st Avenue, the penthouses’ floor-to-ceiling windows perfectly frame sweeping views of the city, East River, or both. All kitchens have been updated with new cabinetry, top-of-the-line appliances and granite countertops. The penthouse residences also include solid mahogany doors, wood-burning fireplaces, and marble bathrooms.
The amenity spaces are equally splendid. The inviting lobby is made from Italian marble floors with a Baccarat chandelier hanging above. There is a mahogany-paneled library, a drawing room, various conference and business centers, private dining room, a wine cellar and fitness center. No detail has been overlooked at this white-glove condominium. All residents have access to a 24-hour doorman, concierge, valet, housekeeping and dry-cleaning services.
