Dom Pérignon Hosts a Star-Studded Tribute to Jean-Michel Basquiat at The Brant Foundation in NYC
Dom Pérignon celebrated its newly launched special edition, Vintage 2015, with a remarkable tribute to the iconic artist Jean-Michel Basquiat at The Brant Foundation in New York City’s East Village on October 10th, 2024. The star-studded event, attended by celebrities like Zoë Kravitz, Natasha Lyonne, and Luka Sabbat, brought together artists, creatives, and admirers of Basquiat’s legacy to experience an evening of artistic immersion and homage to his enduring influence on contemporary culture.
In tribute to Basquiat, the event featured an immersive display of his work In Italian (1983), the very piece that inspired the design of the special edition bottle. Guests were treated to a unique installation by famed photographer Maripol, who delved into her archives to capture the evening’s guests in real-time Polaroids, reminiscent of her celebrated work during New York’s vibrant art scene in the 1980s. The atmosphere of the event was charged with creativity, with attendees dancing to beats by DJ Justin Strauss after an opening jazz performance by the Onyx Collective—perfectly encapsulating Basquiat’s own fusion of visual art and musical expression.
The Brant Foundation, known for housing some of Basquiat’s most legendary exhibitions, provided the perfect backdrop for the event. Owned by Peter Brant, one of the top global collectors of Basquiat’s work, the venue is a non-profit organization hosting multiple exhibitions throughout the year, making it an ideal place for this unique celebration. Dom Pérignon’s Vintage 2015 draws inspiration from Basquiat’s most profound works, making this tribute a true meeting of two creative forces that push the boundaries of artistry.
The special edition Dom Pérignon Vintage 2015 honors both Basquiat’s raw and revolutionary creativity and the Champagne Maison’s commitment to excellence and harmony. With just the right balance of precision and depth, this exquisite vintage will be available at select retailers starting in October 2024.
