A Dazzling Adventure In Dubai
From architectural feats to exotic foody experiences, Dubai has it all. Here are just some of the thrilling activities that are worth visiting this glamorous city for.
Climb the world’s tallest skyscraper
Standing a whopping 829.8 metres, the Burj Khalifa is the tallest building in the world and a prominent feature amongst the city’s skyline. For a small entrance fee, you can take an elevator up to the observation decks on the 125th and 148th floor. Along with breath-taking views, the observation decks offer lounges to grab a drink and fascinating information on the engineering challenges that were faced whilst building the tower.
Go shopping in the Dubai Mall
The Dubai Mall is like no other shopping complex in the world – on top of containing over 1,200 shops, the mall contains an indoor theme park, an aquarium, a full-size diplodocus skeleton and an Olympic-sized ice rink. Even if you’re not in the mood for shopping, it’s worth taking a stroll through simply for the visual sights.
See the Dubai fountain show
Located between the Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Mall, the Dubai fountain offers an incredible choreographed display that is also worth seeing. Jets of water shoot as high as 50ft during the show, whilst an added light show makes this an impressive sight at night. The best thing about this attraction is that it’s absolutely free.
Taste the local food
Dubai is full of unusual and exciting dining experiences. If you’re looking for some of the finest cocktails and steaks in the city, we recommend booking a table at Doors at www.doorsdubai.com. Meanwhile, for some incredible Japanese cuisine, Zuma is well worth a trip. Those able to stretch their budget a little further may also want to try seafood restaurant Ossiano, which is located at the bottom of the Ambassador Lagoon surrounded by glass panels that allow you to see the marine life swimming in the lagoon – you’ll feel as if you’re dining at the bottom of the sea.
Try some alternative spa therapy
There’s also no shortage of places to get pampered in Dubai if you’re looking for a spa break. Amongst it’s grand spa hotels and centres, there are also a number of wacky spa treatment centres where you can try some of the most unusual treatment types in existence. For example, the spa facilities at Banyan Tree Al Wadi include a rainforest simulation and an igloo room, which you can book tickets for here www.myconcierge.com. Other unusual treatments found throughout the city include bathing in goats’ milk and a snake venom facial!
Take a jeep into the desert
If you grow tired of the urban sights, you can always take trip out into the dunes that surround Dubai. Jeep safaris are a popular activity – you can book evening jeep rides at sites like www.desertsafaridubai.com, which include a BBQ out in the desert and a fire show. There are also camel rides and Arabic coffee tastings available for soaking up the traditional lifestyle of the people of Dubai.
