What to do in Texas

The landscape of Texas is varied and intriguing. There are forests, desserts, well populated and practically deserted areas. It has everything, which makes it one of the perfects states to visit if you are looking for an adventure. It’s home to cities such as Houston, Dallas, Austin and San Antonio and fabulous tourist attractions such as the Houston Space Center. This means that there is absolutely loads to do, and it can be difficult deciding on a place to stay that allows you to see as much as you can, without missing out. If there is one thing that you have to do while in Texas, it’s eat. You could easily travel around the state eating a different, yet equally amazing burger every night of the week if you wanted to. Food in Texas isn’t fancy. It’s traditional, good, honest food without frills and whistles. Stick to classics like fried chicken, burgers, ribs, chili and pecan pie to enjoy Texan food at its best.

Explore Enchanted Rock

Enchanted Rock is a pink granite mountain, surrounded by national park, 17 miles north of Fredericksburg and if you are looking to explore and get a little adventure, it’s the place to be. You can spend your time climbing, hiking, bird watching, geocaching, taking in nature or you can camp for the night, and spend your time staring up at the stars.

See The Cowboys

If you are after some sport, stay in a hotel near AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Arlington is home to shops, restaurants, and the world-famous Dallas Cowboys. No trip to Texas would be complete without taking in a game, and if you’ve never seen an NFL game before, this is the perfect place to start.

Visit The Alamo

You’ve probably heard of The Alamo. But, do you know anything about it? In 1836, 200 men made a stand for Texas in a battle at the Alamo, which was converted into a fort. While the Texans lost this specific battle, they went on to win the war of Independence from Mexico. It’s a massive part of Texan History and something you should take the time to learn more about during your visit. Nowadays, you can tour the fort, church, barracks, and arcade. There’s a gift shop, and museum and tours are either self-guided, or audio led.

Go to SeaWorld

SeaWorld in San Antonio is a marine research center, aquarium, theme park, and oceanarium. It’s the perfect place to spend a fun-filled day, learning, exploring and letting your hair down, especially if you are traveling to Texas with kids. The site opens at 10 am daily, and there are plenty of seasonal specials and guest exhibits as well as the permanent displays and shows. Check online to see what’s on and check prices before your trip.

Head to the Space Center                                                                                                     
At the Houston Space Center, you can learn about NASA’s current and most famous missions, watch science shows and learn all about space and planets. You’ll be able to check out both modern and historic mission control stations, and you might even be able to meet an astronaut.
