New-Yorkers Love Fall Weekend Getaways

Fall is a mesmerizing season that paints a variety of warm and cozy shades to our favorite sceneries. Fall in New York City is everything you could be dreaming of. Most New Yorkers embrace the opportunity of enjoying some of the best seasonal events in town, such as the unmissable Oktoberfest – which has already started and will carry on until October 6. Central Park and Watermark’s Oktoberfest are the preferred locations as they offer the right mixture of celebration and open spaces. Many claim that beer tastes different in a bar or in the middle of the colorful trees in Central Park. Alternatively, if you are looking for romantic getaways in nyc with the one you love, what could be better than experiencing the sunset from the viewing deck of the Empire State Building, or heading to the top of the Rockefeller Center for a sweeping city view? But the main advantage of NYC in fall is not what the city has to offer, but its proximity to some of the most beautiful and enchanting locations for a weekend getaway.

They can explore the rural side of NJ

The best thing about autumnal weather is the long walks you can take in the middle of nature. When Central Park loses its appeal, New Yorkers can head to wildlife areas, parks and nature reserves in the neighboring state, New Jersey. Indeed, despite its small size, the NJ state is an ideal destination. It’s not only easy to reach by car, but it has plenty of short trails available. New Yorkers are especially fond of the Wurst Nature Preserve trail in Medford, which is accessible to untrained hikers. You can then head to Medford town for a Mediterranean meal at the local family-owned restaurant – you can find more about Illiano Cucina here. Scenic Medford is the ideal relaxing day out trip.

They are only one flight away from superb Halloween tour

Halloween is only a few weeks away. Don’t think about getting your costume ready. New Yorkers who have no desire to dress up tend to book a scary trip instead. Boston is only one hour away by plane and offers a fantastic Ghost and Gravestone tour filled with historic tales and jump scares. Boston scary tour is a must-do that New Yorkers enjoy year after year!

October is magical at the Niagara Falls

While most tourists aim to visit Niagara Falls during spring or summer, New Yorkers are only a short flight away and can discover the magical scenery in an autumnal decor. Indeed, the crowds are long gone, but the tourist attractions and restaurants are still open, which makes you trip a lot easier to organize. More importantly, Niagara during the month of October is a beautiful combination of colors, guaranteed to break the Instagram algorithm for several days!

They can also relax at home with fantastic fall scenes

Last but not least, while most trips are only a short journey away, New Yorkers can come back home with plenty of time to enjoy the end of their weekend in the midst of fall foliage in the city. What better way to celebrate the return to day-to-day life after a trip to NJ nature parks, Boston ghost tour, or even Niagara Falls than to enjoy the last of the Octoberfest beer on your own private terrace?

There is no denying that fall can transform every landscape. However, for New Yorkers, fall is the perfect excuse to rediscover the neighboring areas and make the most of the spooky season of fallen leaves, spicy drinks, and ghost stories.
