Field of Light at Freedom Plaza: A Luminous Art Installation Illuminating Manhattan's East Side
Internationally renowned artist Bruce Munro has unveiled the conceptual renderings of his eagerly awaited public art installation, "Field of Light at Freedom Plaza." Sponsored by the Soloviev Foundation, this immersive artwork will grace Manhattan's East Side, offering residents and visitors a unique blend of art, technology, and nature. Spanning over six acres from 38th to 41st Street east of First Avenue, the installation will feature 17,000 lowlight, fiber-optic stemmed spheres, creating an ethereal landscape against the backdrop of New York City's iconic skyline and the East River waterfront.
A Tribute to New York's Creative Essence
During a special event at Midtown Manhattan’s Cucina 8½, Munro shared his vision for the Field of Light, emphasizing its symbolism of boundless imagination and the freedom to dream. "Field of Light at Freedom Plaza stands for boundless imagination and the freedom to dream. It is my hope that it warms hearts and inspires both young and old," Munro expressed. Echoing this sentiment, Michael Hershman, CEO of Soloviev Group, remarked, “New York City has always been a global epicenter of freedom and the creative spirit. We are thrilled to share this transformative experience with our community and the world.”
An Invitation to Experience and Engage
Set to open to the public this winter, "Field of Light at Freedom Plaza" promises to be more than just a visual treat. It aims to foster community engagement and offer educational programs, making it a hub of cultural exchange. Visitors can immerse themselves in the installation, walking through the winding paths surrounded by the luminous spheres.
