Andy Cohen Attends Callen-Lorde’s Hamptons Tea Dance Which Raised $315,000 for LGBTQ+ Health
On Saturday, July 13, the atmosphere at Nova's Ark Project in Water Mill, NY, was electric despite the overcast weather. Over 700 people gathered for Callen-Lorde’s Hamptons Tea Dance, a beloved LGBTQ+ tradition since 1992, to raise funds for LGBTQ+ health services. The event successfully raised an impressive $315,000, underscoring the community's support for Callen-Lorde Community Health Center.
Notable attendees such as TV host Andy Cohen, vintner and entrepreneur Joey Wölffer, Women’s Wear Daily style director Alex Badia, and fashion designer Zaldy Goco were among the guests who partied the day away to nostalgic music, sipped cocktails, and ended the night with a sunset slow dance. The event featured a large dance tent with a vibrant dance floor scene complete with an oversized disco ball.
Actor and director John Cameron Mitchell co-DJed the event with DJ Amber Martin, spinning crowd-pleasers ranging from Prince to Sade. Guests enjoyed delicious bites, including quesadillas made with local microgreens, and refreshing cocktails like Tito’s spritzes and Wölffer’s iconic Summer in a Bottle wine. Bill Shea read his children’s book, "A Grandpa Joe Day!," for guests of all ages. A standout feature was the 50-foot segment of Gilbert Baker’s mile-long pride flag from the 1994 Stonewall 25 March, providing a stunning rainbow backdrop on the bucolic sculpture garden of Nova’s Ark Project.
The funds raised support Callen-Lorde Community Health Center's mission to provide sensitive, quality health care and related services to New York’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender communities, regardless of their ability to pay. Serving over 20,000 patients annually, Callen-Lorde promotes health education and wellness and advocates for LGBTQ+ health issues. Since the days of Stonewall, Callen-Lorde has been transforming lives through excellent comprehensive care, pioneering research, advocacy, and education to drive positive change globally.
