When Fashion Meets Engine: a Review of Cars for Fashion Brands
Car manufacturers and designers of leading fashion houses have been teaming up for decades to create limited editions of various car models. In this article, I'll tell you which cars have particularly wowed us over the past few years.
One guaranteed way to attract the public's attention to a car is to release a limited edition of this or that model. Even better, if it is a series dedicated to any event or celebrity. For example, recently Porsche presented the Panamera GTS model by Maria Sharapova and Bugatti launched the "Bugatti Legends" series to honor the people who played a special role in the brand's history. Famous fashion designers and fashion houses are not left out either, now and then teaming up with car manufacturers to create limited-edition versions of car models.
Model Maserati Quattroporte Ermenegildo Zegna Limited Edition was announced last spring and made its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show. For the interior trim soft leather and fabric of the highest quality were used. The central console is decorated with an Ermenegildo Zegna Limited Edition inscription. Also, a capsule collection of luggage bags and accessories was developed for potential owners of the car. Maserati representatives said that the model will be produced in only 100 copies. But you can always rent a regular Maserati. Today you can rent almost any luxury car for a small fee, as car rental services are becoming more and more popular. The choice of models: from Ferrari and Lamborghini to Range Rover and Mercedes G-class. I recommend checking the prices for car rent in Dubai.
One more example of collaboration between the French fashion house and automobile brand is a limited-edition version of Hermes x Hyundai Equus Concept Limited Edition. The model was released last April. The interior was finished with materials such as calf and crocodile leather. The car made its debut at the Seoul Auto Show among other supercars and received the most flattering reviews from onlookers. It was supposed that the price for Equus "with Hermes trimming" will be not less than $100 thousand.
In 2011 Trussardi celebrated its centenary with a series of events including a joint project with the famous Bavarian automaker. Trussardi designers worked on a special version of the BMW 5 GT. They tried to underline that the fashion house is famous for its leather goods and first of all for gloves. The limited-edition version came in Heraldic Brown body color. The seats were upholstered in high-quality Glove Beige leather with contrast stitching, and the headrests bore the House emblem. This emblem also adorned some body parts.
In terms of cost, power, and status, the Fiat 500 does not go with the above-mentioned Bugatti, BMW, and Maserati in any comparison. However, everything changes when the creative director of Gucci Fashion House Frida Giannini gets down for the design of the car. A limited-edition version of the Fiat 500 by Gucci was released in 2011. This way the fashion house celebrated its 90th anniversary. Buyers could choose a black or white body, which was decorated with the signature green and red stripes of the fashion house. The seats of the car also have these stripes and the seat belts have the same color combination. The Gucci lettering adorned some parts of the car body, while the brand logo, two intertwined G's, adorned the wheel rims and seat headrests. The limited-edition version was relaunched in 2013. Pricing started at $23,000.
The idea of a fashionable urban small car can unite even the British and the French. In 2011 British automaker Aston Martin and the famous Parisian concept store Colette released a limited edition of the Cygnet model in an amount of 14 copies. Colette designers focused on work on the color and interior of the car. The result is very stylish: silver body with bright blue accents, "bitter chocolate" leather interior with contrasting blue and white stitching, and fun blue decorative cushions on the rear seats. The initial price of the car was $69,000.
