Choosing a destination to travel to in the United States can be a task in itself. This one country is huge, sprawling over 9.8 million kilometres squared of land, and there are over fifty different states to choose from, each with its own culture, attractions, and aesthetic. Perhaps the best technique to embrace when travelling the USA is to pick a state and explore it thoroughly - really get the most out of your trip and feel confident ticking the place you’ve visited off your list. For now, let’s focus on South Carolina, or the Palmetto State!

Greenville

Start your journey by booking into a hotel in Greenville, South Carolina. This area will help to ease you into the South Carolina lifestyle. Nestled into the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, you’d think that this area would purely be a spot to visit for natural beauty. While the area does boast this quality in profundity, there’s a surprising amount of entertainment on offer too! There are plenty of one-of-a-kind shops and boutiques to peruse, as well as art galleries, museums, and guided tours for the more culturally inclined amongst us. If you enjoy immersing yourself in natural scenery, stop for a coffee overlooking Falls Park on the Reedy. If you are active, you can cycle the GHS Swamp Rabbit Trail. If you are a fan of beer, you can round your trip off by conducting a brewery tour through The Brewery Experience. As you can see, this area offers something to suit everyone’s tastes!

Charleston

Charleston is a South Carolina port city and is extremely aesthetically pleasing. Those of us with Instagram accounts won’t be able to help but upload a few snaps of the stunning, quaint cobblestone streets and pastel antebellum houses (just be aware of the seriousness of the antebellum history you are viewing)! Promenade the waterfront, overlooking the harbour during the evening for a truly memorable experience.

Myrtle Beach

What’s a vacation without a trip to the beach? There’s something so novel about setting foot on the sand and dipping in the sea! Myrtle Beach is a specialist vacation resort that lies on South Carolina’s Atlantic coast. Begin at its central hub - the Grand Strand. Here, you will be able to find plenty of restaurants, cafes, and bars, where you can top up your energy levels throughout your day. You can then explore up to sixty miles of sandy beaches, lined with arcades, souvenir stands, and traditional amusement parks.

Hilton Head Island

Hilton Head Island can add a maritime vibe to your vacation. Take a trip to the Harbour Town Lighthouse and stroll around exhibits and displays at the Coastal Discovery Museum. If you are a fan of animals, but don’t want to visit zoos or safari parks where they are cooped up against their will, you can visit the Pinckney Island National Wildlife Refuge salt marshes that are home to alligators, deer, and birds. Just make sure to take an official guided tour for safety’s sake!

As you can see, South Carolina has a whole host to offer pretty much anybody. So, start planning your trip today!
