Male & Female Inter-dynamics: 3 Key Facts Worth Knowing
There's this widely known book, called "Men Are from Mars and Women Are from Venus", which accentuates all the differences between these two genders. But the question is, are they really all that different, or is it just a myth?
This is probably one of the most intriguing topics that pique the interest of both men and women. If you are interested in unveiling all the differences, then just cast your eyes on the facts that are about to be mentioned today.
Who Cheats More?
This is the subject that has been studied for decades and today, we finally have some answers. Namely, if you take a look at the infidelity stats by gender, you will quickly realize that men cheat more. In fact, they cheat approximately twenty percent of the time.
When it comes to women, they do it roughly thirteen percent of the time. Although these reports show that men are most likely to cheat, the reality is that cheating in general is pretty common in both genders.
However, what you need to understand is the fact that everybody has a different definition of cheating, which is why all of us should take these results with a grain of salt.
Who Is More Empathetic?
If you ask somebody to imagine a caring and empathetic person, a vast majority will first think of women. But does it really mean that they are necessarily more empathetic than men? If you “consult” online surveys and questionnaires, they’ll tell you that they are, however, this difference in compassion is most likely caused by various socialization processes.
Many studies have showcased that women and men have experienced socialization in very different ways, meaning that girls were normally playing with dolls, Barbie, and other items that would demonstrate their nurturing side, while boys were usually soldiers, heroes, etc.
Not to mention the fact that boys weren’t “allowed” to cry, while it was completely normal for the girls. The point is that all of these factors impacted both genders, however, it doesn’t mean that one is more compassionate than the other, because, the truth is, that women and men can be empathetic (depending on the circumstances and personal traits) and that kindness is natural to both genders.
What About Mental Health Issues?
Both genders are susceptible to various neurological disorders, however, according to science, women are more prone to health conditions such as depression and anxiety. How come?
Well, that’s because their brains process serotonin (a monoamine neurotransmitter) in a different way than men. On the flip side, men are at an increased risk of suffering from conditions like Parkinson’s disease and autism.
Although women suffer more frequently from all anxiety disorders, it’s worth mentioning that both men and women are equally susceptible to social anxiety disorder which can occur at any age.
There are several factors that can affect someone’s life, personal traits, development, and many other things. Many studies have shown in the past that there are certain differences between men and women and this article today focused on a couple of them.
