Ferrari unexpectedly failed the Grand Prix in Baku
The race of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix of Formula-1 was hot for fans. Ferrari seemed to be in the lead, but suddenly Lecler and Sainz dropped out of the race. As a result, the first place went to Max Verstappen, the second – to Sergio Perez. Both racers represented Red Bull. Third place went to George Russell of Mercedes.
Why did the Ferrari Grand Prix of Azerbaijan turn into a complete failure? Technical problems proved to be the fault of everything. Unfortunately, this is a widespread problem in Formula One. But if you decide to rent a car Ferrari, you don’t have to worry about anything. After all, rental companies carefully check the specifications of their vehicles. It is in their interest that the person who hires a car was satisfied. Now car rentals give customers a wide arrange of different car models. So you can hire a supercar to your taste and feel yourself a little bit like Schumacher.
What happened exactly?
The Red Bull looked more promising in the first segment. The Spaniard Sainz was a little behind, but the ninth lap was his final. His car Ferrari failed the brake-by-wire system, after which a virtual safety machine appeared on the track. His partner, Leclerc, decided that the best way out would be to go to the pits. At this point, Vettel, Russell, Lewis, and Hamilton also made a pit stop.
After three laps Verstappen drove into the pits and Lecler suddenly managed to break out into the lead. Everything seemed lost to Red Bull, but the engine in Charles Leclerc’s car decided otherwise. On lap 21 smoke appeared over the build of the Ferrari representative. Then the rider got to the boxing and this race was over for him. This is the second time in three races that a Monegasque driver has withdrawn from the race due to engine failure.
The motors kept failed
These were not all Ferrari’s failures in Baku. Alfa Romeo’s client team pilot, Guanyu Zhou, also dropped the race on the technical problem. And after that, a similar situation happened to Kevin Magnussen, who was competing for his scores.
Then a virtual safety machine arrived at Magnussen. The race leaders took advantage of the moment and held a "free" pit stop. The intrigue in the race disappeared literally 17 laps before the finish line.
As a result, Red Bull scored a "golden double" and placed first in the Constructors' Cup. As for Verstappen, he won 25 victories in his career and for the first time won the race in Baku. As a reward, he earned 34 points over Lecler in the individual standings. If the machines continue to fail Ferrari, it will be extremely difficult to reduce this handicap.
The Italian press is indignant
Ferrari’s defeat in Italy was particularly painful. Tuttosport wrote that Ferrari’s real weakness was not a failed strategy, but unreliable propulsion.
Gazzetta dello Sport stated that Ferrari’s chances had vanished with the smoke from Leclerc’s failed engine. According to the media, Monegasque had every chance of winning before the engine broke. "A serious blow to the team and fans. Ferrari with each race is more and more difficult " – considers Gazzetta dello Sport.
La Stampa believes that Verstappen won with a minimum of effort. Ferrari will have to pay for this for a long time, and Lecler may even lose the championship.
Journalist Leo Turrini believes that Ferrari has problems with quality control. In his opinion, in the pursuit of Red Bull Racing, the team was rushed and something was miscalculated. Worst of all, there is no time to fix the engine problem before the next race, leads the Canadian Grand Prix very soon.
