6 Fun and Elegant to Spruce Up Your Home for the Fall
By now, we have all waved the summer season goodbye, and we are slowly preparing ourselves for the fall. Despite the temperatures cooling down, we are heading to an exciting season where we expect guests to visit our home for the famous Halloween and Thanksgiving holidays.
To kill the cold, you can get inspired by immersing yourself in the creativity of getting some lovely décor for your home before those holidays arrive. Here are some ideas to liven up your home this fall:
1. Spice Up Your Fireplace
Like we mentioned earlier, the temperatures are bound to drop during this season. Honestly, the fall season will feel incomplete if you don’t get your fireplace to work. We know most of you neglected your fireplaces during the summer, but now it’s time to rekindle it, this time creatively.
First, do a chimney sweep to remove the soot layers and ensure that it works as it should. Use more natural-looking elements of twigs, pinecones, or stone to beautify the mantle, and place some candles on top of the features that you’ve chosen to decorate with. To commemorate upcoming holidays like Halloween, you can also add a decorative piece of art on the mantle.
2. Refresh Your Front Porch
The front porch is the first place of every home that welcomes guests even before entering the house. You don’t have to use the usual orange color to decorate your porch. This time around, make it different. To add fun to it, buy a set of differently sized pumpkins and decoupage them to your desired style. Place them near the front door and stack different flower types stacked in flower pots near the pumpkin.
3. Modify Your Windows
During this season, it’s easy to keep those windows locked all through to prevent your home from allowing in a lot of cold air. This doesn’t have to be the case throughout the season. Nowadays, you can efficiently fit windows with between the glass blinds to not only improve your home insulation but also to enhance privacy.
Your windows will attract attention from your home guests and family members. Besides the natural light enhancement brought about by these blinds, you can add some artificially lighted candles on the windowsills both on the inside and outside. Additionally, you can also add some decorative decals to the windows. If you want to change the decals to suit different themes, you can easily remove them and replace them using alcohol or other window cleaners without damaging your windows.
4. Refresh Your Patio
We understand that it’s a cold season, but we have to agree that you can’t be indoors all the time. Therefore, a patio refresh will encourage you to spend more time outdoors by protecting yourself from the cold with some cozy throw blankets. Additionally, put some throw pillows to support your back against some outdoor couches. Add a personal touch of plants and pumpkins beside the furniture to give your patio that fall-season look.
5. Refresh Your Dining Table to the Seasonal Style
As we said, there will be lots of dining moments with family and friends in this fall season. Your dinner table can easily set the mood for you, starting from the food, arrangement, and on to the kind of décor you use. Fortunately, a dinner table is not too hard to decorate.
First, you can start by looking for patterned but traditional-like table linens. Then, instead of using flowers, use large affordable candles and a variety of fall fruits or tall gooseberries neatly arranged in a glass vase on the table. If you have an outdoor dining table, it would be wise for you to add throw blankets to it and use lanterns instead of candles.
6. Change the Wall Look
I’m sure by now you already feel inspired by everything that the fall season brings with it. It wouldn’t be a wrong decision to switch up the color of your walls a little bit to suit the season. You’re advised to consider warm color tones like greige and cream to send those seasonal vibes.
Also, add wall art, preferably those that are wooden framed with bold words in them. They send a strong statement of boldness in the room. Lastly, you can also add hanging baskets with plants like thymes or primroses on your walls for that extra flair.
While some state that the fall season is one of the dullest seasons of the year, it may be the best for some. The difference is in the willingness to try out new things and to make each day memorable. With all those ideas listed above, this fall season should signify the commencement of happier and inspiring times. Don’t be afraid to step out!
