2023 Garden Trends
If you’re looking to get a head start on the garden trends for next year, here is a lowdown of some of the top trends we are expecting to see in 2023.
Sustainability
For both homes and gardens, the main trend for 2023 is sustainability in all its forms. Using environmentally friendly materials and growing your own food is one of the top trends for next year. This is likely to the world’s focus on reducing carbon emissions and becoming more environmentally friendly.
This trend will also be reflected in garden furniture choices as we will see a lot more DIY garden furniture using upcycled pallets, and old furniture to create a personalised space on a lower budget without waste.
Landscape Gardens
Having your own beautifully landscaped garden will be one of the top trends in 2023. Luckily, you don’t need to hire an expensive landscape gardener to create this reality, instead, you can DIY this with a few key tools. For those with a particularly overgrown garden, a hatchet pruning saw will be your best friend as it helps you quickly and easily cut back any brambles and branches cluttering up your space. You should also be sure to invest in some hardy gloves and a spade which will ensure that you can dig holes for your plants and bulbs with ease.
Tropical Gardens
After being stuck indoors for the past few years due to COVID-19, many of us picked up a love of plants and gardening which is reflected through the abundance of social media accounts now dedicated to plants and gardens. The tropical garden trend for 2023 is all about exploring rare and exotic plants such as subtropical evergreens and flowering vines.
Architectural Plants
Architectural plants help to make a statement in your garden and most are perfect all year round as they are very adaptable when it comes to sun or shade. Plants such as Swamp Irises and Bergenia will be trending during 2023 due to their bright colours which will accent the background of the rest of the landscape
Greek-Inspired Gardens
Gen-Z is embracing the Greek Garden trend already and this is set to continue into 2023. Greek-inspired gardens highlight romantic beauty and include archways and statues alongside climbing plants and tall trees. The perfect plants to create this garden style are water-wise, hardy plants like succulents and roses and bulbs such as agapanthus. A key feature of Greek gardens is gravel, which is great news for low-maintenance gardeners as they require 80% less maintenance compared to grass and are great for any size of space.
