Italy, Spain, and France are the leading countries in organic wine production all across the globe, and Europe holds 60% of the total global production.
Italy leads the list with 54.8m hectolitres and Spain with 44.4m hectolitres. Third comes France with 24.1m hectolitres.
As for organic wine consumption, things are a bit different. France is still part of the group, but Germany and the United Kingdom are the other two leading countries.
In Germany, almost 22% or 8.9m buy organic wine less than once a month, and in France, 9.3m 12-bottle cases were sold only in 2020. Last but not least, in the UK, of the total 3m, the organic wine consumption is higher by 5%, and by the end of 2022, this percentage will be nearly doubled to almost 10%.
Predictions show that the organic wine market will reach 87.5m cases by 2022 and that Europe will have 78% of the total organic wine market in the world. Also, the organic wine subcategory is predicted to make the most progress, with more than 9% compound annual growth from 2017 to 2022.
