Does Your Style Feel A Bit "Off"? Here's Why

Sometimes you can spend ages getting ready, put on your expensive clothes, look in the mirror, and wonder how it all went wrong. You did the time, spent the money, and the result was not what you wanted. Why?

In this post, we're going to take a deep dive into why your style might not be playing out how you'd like. Sometimes it's not your fault, so don't get to the end of this article believing that you're hopeless. You're not. It's just that life and expectations can get in the way, and we could all do with being a little more mindful of that.

You're Wearing The Wrong Colors

Take a look at Jay-Z. The rap singer famous for a song with the number "99" in it, has a distinctly blue skin tone. It's not something that he can help - it's just the way that he was born. Blue is a relatively cool color, so if Jay-Z were to wear sometimes bright and airy, then there's a good chance that you'd notice the blue even more. Jay-Z has a definite style when he's out and about - clean-cut, blue or black suits. That's about all you'll ever see him wearing. He does this to make himself look warmer than his natural complexion would allow if he started sporting the color yellow.

The predominant colors you should wear should match your skin tone. Some colors will make you look a bit "off" while others make you look great. What's important to note is that the colors that look great on you might be completely unexpected. Perhaps you don't have a single orange item in your wardrobe, but if it works for you, then maybe you should make the change.

Your Clothes Are Altering Your Thoughts

Next time you go browsing True Classic Tees for your next item of clothing, consider this: your clothes control your thoughts.

That's not some statement that we've plucked out of the ether, but a bona fide conclusion from real scientists. Researchers at Calfornia State University investigated whether the clothes that we wear influence the way we think and our performance, whether at work or when pursuing sexual relations.

It turns out that the formality of one's attire not only influences how other people perceive you, but how you view yourself. People were far more likely to refer to people by their title and last name when they were wearing expensive suits compared to their first name when wearing something more casual.

Of course, there's no right or wrong answer here about what you should wear. It's all about context. Sometimes you'll want people to see you as professional while at others; you'll want a more laid-back approach. But it does prove a point: your clothes can have a direct effect on how you feel. It's a little creepy when you think about it.

You've Neglected Your Body Shape

What looks great on a fashion model or a manakin might not look good on you, but that's okay. You understand that the last thing you want to do when trying to appear stylish is to copy everyone else.
