Field of Light at Freedom Plaza, a large-scale public art project by internationally acclaimed artist Bruce Munro, has announced a special evening opening on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 in celebration of Valentine’s Day. Visitors are welcomed free of charge and will be presented with long-stem roses, chocolate kisses, and holiday surprises as they are invited to stroll the winding paths surrounded by 18,750 fiber-optic stemmed spheres that illuminate with a slow and subtle change of hue.
Sponsored in full by the Soloviev Foundation, Field of Light at Freedom Plaza encompasses more than six dazzling acres from 38th to 41st Street east of Manhattan’s First Avenue and welcomes the public on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings from 5pm to 9pm, with seasonal adjustments for sundown. Additionally, Field of Light will be open on Sunday, February 18, 2024, from 5pm to 9pm for extended viewing opportunities during the President’s Day Weekend. Guests are encouraged to visit fieldoflightnyc.com to schedule their complimentary time. Walk-ups are accepted as space allows. Additionally, the installation is lit Sunday through Wednesday evenings and visible from the site’s perimeter.
