New Restaurant Opening: Mission Ceviche Debuts Second Location in Union Square

New York City's culinary scene is about to get even more vibrant with the grand opening of Mission Ceviche’s second location in Union Square. Helmed by acclaimed Chef Jose Luis Chavez and partner Brice Mastroluca, this new outpost promises to be the largest Peruvian restaurant in Manhattan, delivering an expanded menu of Modern Peruvian cuisine with a tantalizing focus on Nikkei flavors.

Culinary Delights Await: Mission Ceviche Union Square offers a dynamic menu, allowing guests to dive into the rich tapestry of Peruvian cuisine. Enjoy the classics that earned them a Michelin nod at their first location, like the Ceviche Clasico with traditional tiger’s milk. New additions include:

  • Tuna and Watermelon Ceviche: A refreshing blend with aji amarillo and yuzu tiger’s milk.

  • Ceviche Mixto: Featuring the freshest catch of the day, shrimp, octopus, and aji amarillo tiger’s milk.

  • Seco Norteno: A hearty Northern dish of slow-cooked short ribs.

  • Lomo Saltado: A Peruvian-Chinese fusion of stir-fried filet mignon with red onions, tomatoes, soy sauce, and served with French fries and white rice.

For those seeking something new, the menu introduces:

  • Whole Fish of the Day: Freshly sourced from local fisheries with customizable preparation styles.

  • Pulpo al Olivo: Octopus tiradito with traditional botija olive tiger’s milk, avocado, and fried capers.

  • Shrimp Tempura: Paired with rocoto spicy mayo and katsuobushi.

  • Watermelon Ceviche (Vegan): Watermelon, edamame, pickled daikon, yuzu and ginger tiger’s milk, crispy quinoa furikake.

Beverage Innovations: Under the expert direction of Adrien Lefort, the beverage program mirrors the innovative spirit of the food menu. The bar boasts an impressive collection of Pisco and offers classic and creative cocktails such as:

  • Mango Mezcal Negroni: A bold mix of milk-washed mezcal, mango, white Campari, and white vermouth.

  • Pisco Espresso Martini: A Peruvian twist on the classic espresso martini.

  • Dragon Fruit Martini: Combining Japanese gin, dragon fruit, and yuzu for a refreshing delight.

Design and Atmosphere: Spanning 5,000 square feet, Mission Ceviche Union Square is a feast for the eyes as well as the palate. The interior design blends organic elements, featuring a vast gray Italian marble bar, rope chandeliers, and an intimate fireplace, with vibrant Peruvian-inspired fabrics and textures. The entrance, adorned with a mosaic octopus leading to the host stand, and the captivating wall art by artist Joel Amit, created from over 4,000 fish-shaped "scales," are just a few highlights that set the scene for an unforgettable dining experience.

With 155 seats, including an open kitchen and a sprawling 30-foot bar, Mission Ceviche Union Square is poised to become a new favorite for those looking to explore the rich, diverse flavors of Peruvian cuisine.
