Event Description: Join Little Amal - a 12-foot tall puppet of a 10-year-old Syrian refugee child - at the 55 events of welcome that make up her 17-day journey through all 5 boroughs, Sept. 14-Oct. 2. One of the largest public art festivals in NYC history, created in collaboration with the city’s artistic community, civic leaders and government agencies, Little Amal Walks NYC is a celebration of our shared humanity. Amal will be welcomed by artists including Elizabeth Streb; Cetiliztli Nauchcampa; Swoon, Classical Theater of Harlem; cultural institutions such as BAM, Lincoln Center, Brooklyn Children’s Museum, The National Black Theatre, St. Ann’s Warehouse; and community based organizations like Jamaica Center for Arts and Learning, Mujeres en Movimiento, The Laundromat Project, Materials for the Arts; and she will travel to JFK, Times Square, Highbridge, Grand Central Terminal, among many other NYC landmarks.
