Monday, December 9, Bay Street Theater, Douglas Elliman Free Community Day

12 p.m. “Rewind” (87 min). Digging through the vast collection of his father’s home videos, director Sasha Joseph Neulinger courageously reconstructs the unthinkable story of his boyhood and exposes intergenerational vile abuse.

2 p.m. “Driven to Abstraction” (84 min), a film directed by Daria Price, unravels the $80 million forgery scandal that rocked the art world and brought down Knoedler, New York City’s oldest and most venerable gallery. Was the gallery’s esteemed director the victim of a con artist who brought her an endless treasure of previously unseen abstract expressional masterpieces? Or did she eventually suspect them as fakes yet continued to sell them for millions of dollars for 15 years? Meet director Price at the Q&A.

4 p.m. “David Crosby: Remember My Name” (95 min). A. J. Eaton’s film of David Crosby of the famous musical groups Crosby, Stills and Nash, and The Byrds, gives us a man who, in his late 70’s, is reflective enough to be his harshest critic. The film is built on a series of brutally honest interviews, some conducted by Eaton, others by producer Cameron Crowe who was 16 when he first interviewed Crosby for Rolling Stone Magazine and built a bond of trust over the years.

6 p.m. Best Shorts Program:

“Learning to Skateboard in a War Zone (If You’re a Girl)” (40 min), directed by Carol Dysinger, is the story of young Afghan girls learning to read, write and skateboard in Kabul. Skateistan recruits children from impoverished neighborhoods and give them education and life skills. For girls, the chance to skateboard presents a unique experience to learn their strengths and gain courage.

6:45 p.m. “What is Love?” (34 min) asks this question of 90 people from all walks of life, ages, sexualities and cultures, telling unique stories of love lost, love won, perspectives both personal and universal. Director is filmmaker/photographer Jane Martin of East Hampton, who will be on hand for the Q&A.

8 p.m. Closing Night Film, “3 Days 2 Nights” (83 min), directed by John Breen of East Hampton (see full information above). Breen will attend the Q&A.
