South African guitar master Derek Gripper is a truly innovative artist who has blended his love for Malian music with Bach and other influences to build a unique body of work which took him all over the world. Derek was called to perform for Nelson Mandela when he first visited his former prison on Robben Island as a free man. Among many noteworthy venues, he has performed at Carnegie Hall in NYC and in a duo with legendary guitarist John Williams at Shakespeare's Globe Theater in London.
