Where To Dine Out This Holiday Season

With winter spirit in the air, the time for holiday dinners is rolling around the corner. Check out our favorite spots for this season.

Cabin in the Sky at Mr. Purple

Open through March, this Winter pop-up is for those who love winter, hate the cold, and are tired of spending these brisk nights bored at home. PLUS anyone looking to catch the Winter Olympics - Mr. Purple will be screening the games on a large projection screen all February long.

While staying warm this Winter you can sip on including hot sips like the Groggy Toddy and S’More Than A Feeling, and plenty of chocolate and cheese fondue to warm your soul.

Winter Room at The Roof

Think white snowy branches climbing along all corners of the room, large seasonal floral arrangements, lounge areas outfitted with fuzzy blankets and comfy pillows. You’ll see lots of white and sparkly eye-popping moments evocative of a classic New York Winter. The pop-up menu brings some deliciously warm cocktails to the mix as well as a selection winter lodge-like dishes, like hot fondue and Belvedere-spiked hot chocolate. Plus, in partnership with Veuve, they will be featuring a 'Veuve Clicquot In The Snow' pop-up bar on the terrace (reminder rooftop terrace is enclosed and heated through the colder season!) The restaurant is perfect for Midtown explorers looking to feel the holiday cheer, but far away from (or above) all the puffy-coated tourists.

This wintery lodge up in the sky is not the only sight you’ll be taking in. That soon-to-be snowy Central Park view brings the Winter Room to a whole other level of seasonal greatness.

 The VNYL’s Winter Wonderland

The basement bar at The VNYL will be transformed into a world of winter white for the holiday season. Imagine a snowy forest on a cold winter night, with (LED) stars sprinkled in the sky and a sheet of snow covering everything from the ground to the treetops - it’ll feel like you’re hanging out in the North Pole. Warm-up with a number of specialty $10 holiday cocktails like the Holiday Hot Chocolate, Gin Stocking and Santa’s Sangria. There will also be a limited supply of The VNYL’s  1 year aged, rum based milk punch, so get it before it’s gone.

The restaurant is perfect for East Side locals looking to relish in the holidays without taking the trek to Midtown. This East Village hot-spot is hidden behind a record store, providing the perfect spot to enjoy holiday vibes in peace.

The Writing Room

This library-themed spot in the center of the city is perfect for a cozy night out. The walls are lined with black and white pictures of families, the city and the restaurant, each lit by candle and natural lighting. But, the highlight of the restaurant is undeniably the sweeping bookcase spanning the entirety of a wall. Complete with colorful books and dark wooden cases, the bookshelf ties together the entire room. Begin your meal with the barbeque ribs and a beet salad, their signature dishes. For dinner, try out the Gnocchi or Long Island Duck, both of which the restaurant is known for. Finish it off with a cookie plate and a cup of coffee for the perfect end to a warm and cozy evening.

Danji

Danji showcases authentic Korean flavors prepared with classic  techniques to enhance the taste, textures, and aesthetic of each dish. They offer small but shareable portions served in multiple courses, allowing diners to enjoy each dish hot out of the kitchen. Above all, Danji, from its decor to its music, represents our idea of a great place to enjoy amazing food. They’re known for their spicy rice cakes and kimchi poutine, but given the menu, you really can’t go wrong.
