Things You Should Stop Doing in 2019

The first of the year is a time when many pledge to change things about their lives.  Often this may include incorporating exercise into a daily routine or eating more fruits and vegetables.  While these are great goals to set for yourself, have you ever considered a goal that requires you to stop doing something rather than start?  Keep reading for some tips on how to stop yourself from doing things that hold you back and start living your best life in 2019.

Stop comparing yourself to others

If you’ve ever caught yourself glancing at the person next to you on the treadmill or in the grocery store and thought, “wow, I wish I looked like her,” or “I wish I could run as fast as him,” now is the time to stop. You’ll drive yourself crazy if you’re constantly comparing what you do, say or feel to others.  Not only does comparison rob you of time, it’s not helping you gain anything.  Instead, you’ve just wasted time being down on yourself when you could have spent it working on ways to improve. Like most things in life, you may find it difficult to quit cold turkey when it comes to comparison, luckily, there are plenty of ways to work on this that allow you to

look inside yourself and realize that you are in fact an amazing person.

Stop having bad sex

Whether it’s on your own or with a partner, there’s no excuse to have bad sex in 2019.  When we say stop having bad sex, we mean there is absolutely no reason you should engage in any act of intimacy that does not bring you joy.  Guys, it’s okay to admit that you’re having some trouble keeping things up in the intimacy department. A simple trip to the doctor for a prescription ED medication will have you back in the game in no time.  Ladies, if you’ve been feeling out of sync when it comes to your sexual desires, consider consulting your doctor who may prescribe Addyi, a drug intended to fight against Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder.

Stop working your life away

This doesn’t mean quit your job, set up shop on a desert island and live off the land, (however if you’re able to do that, more power to you).  What it does mean though, is refrain from spending so much of your time working or worrying about work that you miss out on how great life really is. Every employee deals with some type of struggle when it comes to work/life balance, so why not make it your 2019 mission to find what works for you? Book that trip you’ve been dying to take or plan out some mental health days here and there. If your company offers paid time off, you don’t have to feel so guilty for taking that much needed mental health day here and there. If you’re an employer, take these steps to support your employees in finding how to best handle workload and home life and create a harmonious balance between both.
