4 Tips for Sprucing Up Your Home

After a long day at work, many of us just want to come home and relax with the family in a comfortable and relaxing space at home. A lot of people spend their weekends making tweaks to their home space and some even embark on full renovation or restoration home projects. These 4 tips will help you refresh some of the rooms in your home so that you can sit back, relax and enjoy them at your will.  Clear-vue Skylights will help you install your skylight according to your preferences

Try Some Fresh Paint

It's amazing what a fresh lick of paint can do to a room. Even if you are choosing to keep the room the same or a very similar color, it can make a huge difference. Old paint fades in the sun and can become grubby with people's hands touching it, especially in high traffic areas of your home. Simply repainting even couple of years will give the house a whole new fresh feel.

If you are thinking of changing the color scheme then there are few things you might want to consider before you go out and purchase your paint. Firstly, the color you choose for the room can have a big impact on your mood. For example, the best colors to use in the bedroom are pastel shades and very mellow colors. These help to promote a sense of calm and relaxation.

Secondly, you may just want to paint part of a wall or one wall in the room as a feature wall. It’s much easier to start with this space and see if you like it before painting a whole room and deciding you really only wanted one wall to be that color. Before you start the job make sure you have all the supplies ready from a hardware store or an online store like https://tradefixdirect.com/sealants-adhesives-tapes.

Introduce New Lighting

Lighting has a dramatic effect on every room and ideally, you want to allow as much natural light as possible to come into the room. One of the best choices for lighting is LED lighting. This is much softer, and the bulbs last for much longer. Adding reading lamps and LED strip lighting above cornices and behind TV’s can help to create a very modern feel.

Another thing that you can do to help increase the amount of natural light bouncing around your room is to hang a mirror on the wall. This will bounce any light that reflects onto it and adding a mirror can help to make a room appear bigger.

Refinish Old Floorboards

If you live in an old home, then the floorboards may have been there for hundreds of years. Introducing more natural materials into your home not only helps to create a more natural and relaxing feel, it’s also very ecofriendly. The process of refinishing old floorboards is relatively simple and something you can try yourself. You will need to sand them down and then ally a new coat of whatever finish you choose.

Add New Bathroom and Kitchen Tiling

Much like paint, a light colored bathroom and kitchen tiles can fade and lose their appeal over time. Replacing them is a great way to spruce up your home, and you could even match them to patterns you have on other furniture like rugs or to the paint color scheme in either room.

Tiling is a slightly more advanced DIY job, but it is still one that can be done by someone with some DIY competence. It does take a long time so you will need patience and a good eye to help ensure that the tiles are lined up and if they are patterned, in the right order.
