Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute 50th Anniversary

The iconic Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute celebrated its 50th Anniversary on Monday, November 4, 2019 at New York University’s Rosenthal Pavilion in New York City, raising vital funds for The Lee Strasberg Creative Center, which has provided scholarships to students for 42 years. This is the first benefit in the school’s storied history. Alumni Alec Baldwin along with Marlo Thomas were the evening’s chairs.

French Heritage Society

On Monday French Heritage Society board member Ann Van Ness and her husband William opened their Upper East Side townhouse to launch Elaine Sciolino's new book, The Seine: The River that Made Paris. Guests included CeCe Black, Special Events Chair, Jennifer Herlein, Executive Director, Judy McLaren, board member, George Sape, board member, and Jeri Sape, as well as Susan and Gerald Baker, Caroline Bassett, Rick Boldini, Odile de Schiétère-Longchampt, Luis Garcia, Mai Hallingby, Kathy Irwin, Helen King, Caroline Lareuse, Catharine Macdonald, Nadia Martincic, Friederike Moltmann, Paul Rankin, Carole Bellidora Westfall, and Lisa Witomski.

Gilda's Club Gala

Gilda’s Club New York City, the founding cancer support organization named in honor of Saturday Night Live (SNL) comedian Gilda Radner, will honor SNL comedian and actress, Vanessa Bayer with the Gilda Radner Award, presented to her by Kenan Thompson. Donald Deieso, Ph.D., Executive Chairman and CEO, WCG (WIRB-Copernicus Group), with the Red Door Award for Leadership and Lewis C. Cantley, Ph.D., Meyer Director, Sandra and Edward Meyer Cancer Center Weill Cornell Medicine & New York-Presbyterian Hospital will be honored with the Red Door Award for Advances in Cancer Research at its 24th Annual Benefit Gala. Each year, Gilda’s Club NYC recognizes outstanding individuals who have contributed to improving the quality of life of cancer patients.
