The Classic Status Symbol (Private Entry Foyers) Make A Comeback in Condos
The entry foyer that has been a status symbol of the rich in many historic homes is now making a grand return in today's luxury condominiums. In an age of openness and oversharing, ie. Instagram, Snapchat and Instagram, a number of designers and developers are helping buyers reclaim their privacy by reinventing and reintegrating this classic staple. From wood flooring medallions with a basket-weave motif, ash veneer panels, custom-designed concrete walls and more, this age-old concept is being reinterpreted today.
The Symon
At Studio DB's all-new 13-story boutique luxury condo project in Brooklyn Heights, The Symon, the New York-based design firm led by husband and wife Damian and Britt Zunino – who are known for their custom homes and high-end interiors work for a roster of celebrities in New York – accentuated the 59 one-to-four-bedroom residences with custom entry foyers. Residents are welcomed home through large solid panel doors, crown molding accents, eight-inch baseboards and rich inlaid wood flooring medallions with a basket-weave motif. Oversized divided-light windows and custom washed-oak floors fill the homes with natural light and warmth once inside.
