St. Patricks Day Fun In New York City
St. Paddy's is approaching, and with it the anticipation of green, fresh fun. Now, we all know that the City has a lot to offer, and Irish Pubs aren't necessarily lacking. Which brings us to our next point: Which one to choose. Or, if you're one of those people who enjoy bar-hopping, choosing the ones that are closer or less crowded or that offer the highest, widest selection of drinks is just as hard as picking one.
Not to fear: We leave you with the best three Irish Pubs to visit. Use this guide to make your way through the city this March 17th and make the most of out the experience! Also, make sure you don't miss the parade. The Parade starts at 11am at 44th Street, marching up Fifth Avenue, all the way to 79th Street. It finishes around 5:00pm at the American Irish Historical Society at East 80th Street. We’ve also compiled some of the best specials around the city that you won’t want to miss.
O’Everyone
The O’Everyone celebrations highlight the unique blend of Tullamore D.E.W. Irish Whiskey and the social fabric around us, truly opening up the spirited holiday to all. The O’Everyone concept is Everyone is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day – including Pan African, Indian and French cuisines! Have a corned beef smash burger, Irish Potato Cakes with Curry, Guinness braised jerk chicken wings and delicious Tullamore D.E.W. Manhattans and Old Fashioned’s with Kerry Gold Liqueur at the James Beard Award semifinalist bar all weekend - after the parade on Saturday, or out celebrating St. Patrick’s Day on Sunday! To follow along with everyone celebrating O’Everyone, you can follow O’Johnson’s at Henry at Life Hotel’s Gibson + Luce, O’Flute’s at Flute Champagne Bar, and O’Babu Ji’s at Babu Ji.
Due West
One of our favorite brunch spots is offering an Irish special you can’t miss out on. With $1 corned beef and cabbage sandwich and $10 Irish Whiskey cocktails you may not have a chance to leave the west village. Don’t miss out on the oysters in between.
The Dead Rabbit
In the heart of the Financial District, the rusticity of this spot is perfect if you want to experience the homely, authentic Irish vibe. The menus look like old, hand-bound books and they offer only the best of the best when it comes to liquor and authentic coffees.
Brother Jimmy’s
Looking for wings you won’t forget? Now’s your chance to try some Green Wings, an off-the-menu item that’s available, through Sunday, March 17th, and will be priced at $12 for a basket of $22 for a bucket of 20. They will be served with a Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey BBQ sauce to dip.
Paddy Reilly's
The attractive of Paddy Reilly's is not only the wide variety of beer [yes, worry not, they have Guinness], or the authenticity of the interior design [the floorboard itself comes directly from an Irish hotel], but also the fact that they have live music.
Park Avenue Tavern
Right in the line of the parade, Park Avenue Tavern will be hosting their annual St Patrick’s Day blowout. The venue will be packed to the brim with lads and lasses enjoying cold beers, Irish specialty food and libations, and, of course, a live band! To continue the celebrations well into the night there will be a DJ take over until late.
Boulton & Watt
Boulton & Watt will be offering Corned Beef Hash with all the fixings for $16 as part of their St Patrick’s Day brunch special. Away from the madness of midtown and the sea of green, the relaxed gastropub will be a safe haven for guests from the usual St Patrick’s Day crowds.
McSorley's Old Ale House
Last but not least, we have the real closest thing to an actual, countryside Irish pub on this side of the Atlantic. McSorley's has been standing since 1854 and offers customers only two options: McSorley’s Dark Ale and McSorley’s Light Ale. Both are equally tasty, and equally reasonably priced.
