Michelin-Starred Taquería El Califa de León Pops Up in NYC

Now through the end of the month, Mexico City’s renowned Michelin-starred Taquería El Califa de León will be bringing its world-famous tacos to New York City, available at Tacombi locations across the city. The collaboration features four signature tacos—Bistec, Costilla, Gaonera, and Chuleta—crafted with custom beef and pork cuts sourced from master meat purveyor Pat LaFrieda. Each taco is served with fresh tortillas made on-site by Vista Hermosa, Tacombi’s own tortilla brand, alongside El Califa’s signature red guajillo/morita and green tomatillo/serrano salsas.

This unique collaboration was inspired by Tacombi founder Dario Wolos’ admiration for Mario Hernandez Alonso’s dedication to his craft during a trip to Mexico City. Now, New Yorkers can experience these iconic tacos for a limited time.
