Wok in the Clouds

Wok in the Clouds, an Indian inspired, Asian fusion restaurant in Kips Bay conceptualized by the Fine Indian Dining Group (Sahib, Dhaba, Chote Nawab, Malai Marke, Dhaba Express, Jashan by Dhaba and the newly opened Kebabs & Kurries).

For mains guests can enjoy Bangkok Basil Ginger Shrimp, with Thai spices, basil, and onion and Szechuan Lamb, sliced thin lamb basked in a spicy Szechwan sauce. All the dishes are sharable, perfect for those who want to get a taste of everything. They also offer Vietnamese inspired sandwiches like the Chicken Tikka Banh Mi, fresh roll with house mayo, cucumber, cilantro, jalapeno, with skewered chicken in Indian marinade and special sauce. The restaurant offers delicious signature cocktails like the Lychee Martini, and the Mango Margarita.

Glendalough Distillery

Glendalough is in constant pursuit of excellence, always innovating and exploring new terrains in order to distill the best liquid possible. This is how they’ve come to release the first Irish whiskey aged in Mizunara-oak as a celebration of the journey from the wooded mountains in Wicklow to those in the volcanic north of Japan, Hokkaido. Mizunara is the most sought-after oak in the world of whiskey and Glendalough has used it to create a vibrant and floral liquid with a smooth mouthfeel and notes of dark chocolate, orange, and sandalwood. This whiskey is a love letter to the two cultures and is the embodiment of the work it takes to craft artful liquid.

Mizunara’s rarity makes sourcing a great undertaking, but Glendalough was ready for the challenge of being the first Irish whiskey to utilize this oak. The trunks of these uniquely beautiful trees are prone to growing twisted, and they must grow to be twice the age of most oak trees before they can be felled. It then takes three years to dry, and even then, is notoriously difficult to cooper due to its porousness. However, therein lies its saving grace: whiskey can seep deeper into the wood, resulting in an alluring, exotic flavor.
