Drinks To Show Your Pride

Cool down in the hot summer with these drinks filled with Pride.

For many of us, Pride means one thing, and one thing only: Day drinking. While not necessarilly true as this year we are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, one way we do plan to enjoy the day, week, well month, are fun cocktails that will probably drink all Summer. Consider this your friendly reminder to pace yourself, drink plenty of water in between cocktails, and by all means, whatever your poison, keep it colorful. Here are a few drink options to keep you well-oiled through each and every stage of the Pride celebrations. Stock up on that blue curaçao, my friends: you’ll be needing it.

One drink we’re excited to try out this year is Olympic figure-skater Adam Rippon’s signature drink the Moët Riviera Spritz, a dazzling and effervescent lavender-infused sip.

Inspired by the fields of lavender native to the South of France, Adam Rippon has crafted a signature summer sip that reflects his personality – effervescent, bubbly, and especially dazzling on ice.

  • 3 oz Moët Ice Impérial

  • 1 oz vodka

  • .5 oz St-Germain French elderflower liqueur

  • .5 oz Fresh Lemon Juice

  • .5 oz simple syrup

  • 6 Blueberries (for muddling)

  • Garnish: Blueberries, lavender

Directions: Muddle blueberries, add mixture (lemon juice, simple syrup, vodka, elderflower liqueur) to shaker tin. Shake vigorously, then strain into Wine glass with fresh ice cubes. Top with 3 oz of Moët Ice Impérial. Garnish with berries and lavender sprig.

  • 1.5 oz NOLET’S Silver Gin

  • 0.5 oz Lemon Juice

  • 0.5 oz Pineapple Juice

  • 0.5 oz Blanc Vermouth

  • 0.25 oz Hibiscus Syrup*

  1. Shake all ingredients together with ice and strain into a tulip glass.

  2. Garnish: a light grating of black peppercorn on top, or a sprinkling of gold sugar on the side of the glass

  3. Method: Steep hibiscus in water, and add twice the amount of sugar as water, dissolve.

The official Vodka of New York City Pride, Reyka, made this specialty cocktail

Sugar, Spice and Everything Nice

  • 1 ¾ parts Reyka Vodka

  • ¾ part fresh lemon juice

  • ¾ part maple syrup B grade

  • ¾ part Ancho Reyes Chile Liqueur

  • Top soda water

Method: Combine all ingredients together in cocktail shaker and strain and serve.

Sugar, Spice and Everything Nice

Sometimes you just can't make a cocktail, for those who want to open a bottle check out go to wines.

Joseph Drouhin Chablis AC, Drouhin-Vaudon 2015 -This is a dry and fruity wine, that's easy to drink. With fresh aromas of citrus (lemon or grapefruit), you'll find notes of fern or coriander as well. This mineral-rich drink will be the go-to drink for when you just want to open a bottle or 2 with a pleasant and long aftertaste.

Guigal Côtes du Rhône 2016 Rosé -. Produced in the traditional saignée method from a blend of Grenache, Cinsault and Syrah, this structured, dry rosé is bursting with red fruit flavors and aromas, like raspberry and red currant, and balanced with an intriguing minerality on the finish. It pairs beautifully with a great variety of summer foods.

Smoke Tree Rosé 2016 - This blend of primarily Grenache and Zinfandel with smaller percentages of Carignan, Tempranillo, and Mouvedre offers aromas of white cherry, white peach, and yellow nectarine. The palate is vibrant with flavors of crabapple, quince, and crisp nectarine. The finish is dry and refreshing. Pairs well with summer salads, or even fried chicken.
