Brookfield Place Holiday 2018 Event Line Up

Brookfield Place New York is hoping to bring the holiday spirit downtown with an array of events all through the holiday season.

With free and festive programming throughout the holiday season, there is something for everyone, with activities including performances of The Nutcracker and the returns of Luminaries and The Rink. Brookfield Place creates these events to delight visitors and bring the community together to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year at the downtown hub. 

See below for the full list of events and make sure to call Santa in advance.

Mid-November - March: The Rink at Brookfield Place

Located on the Waterfront Terrace, the Rink at Brookfield Place opens in mid-November for another memorable season. New York residents and tourists alike can take in breathtaking views of the cityscape and Hudson River while skating the 7,350 square-foot outdoor rink. Led by former U.S. Olympian skaters, programming includes public skating, private lessons, intro to hockey for kids, corporate events, and more. Hours vary and are weather permitting.

November 23 – December 24: Santa at Brookfield Place

Create lasting photo memories with Santa Claus at Brookfield Place. The month-long event offers a paid photo opportunity with BFPL’s very own Santa, including a children’s craft area. A personalized phone call from Santa is included with every photo package purchase. Visitors can pre-order photo packages and make online reservations in advance. Walk-ins are always welcome.

·         Closed on Mondays except December 24.

Sensory-Friendly Santa with Autism Speaks

This compassionate, sensory-friendly event allows families with children with special needs to experience the time-honored tradition of a Santa visit, in a comforting environment prior to public hours. 

·         Dec 9, 8:30 – 10 am

Santa Paws!

Bring your four-legged family members to Brookfield Place for our special dog-friendly Santa sessions!  

·         Nov 25 & Dec 2, 6:30 – 7:30 pm

·         Small dogs under 25lbs only. Dogs must be carried or in a carrier at all times, with the exception of service animals.

November 27: Light Up Luminaries

Light Up Luminaries signals the start of the holiday season with an evening full of fun and holiday cheer as Brookfield Place celebrates the spectacular light installation and holiday tradition. Enjoy free ice skating on the waterfront, sweet treats, and performances by the Original Dickens Carolers and Joe McGinty and The Loser's Lounge!

·         5:30 – 8 pm

November 28 – January 4: Luminaries

Luminaries is a mesmerizing holiday light installation created by the LAB at Rockwell Group for Brookfield Place. Visitors are immersed in the suspended canopy of glowing lanterns that change in color and intensity within the Winter Garden. The display is inspired by the season’s traditions of sharing, giving, and community. Visitors are encouraged to watch light shows every half hour and send wishes to the canopy above from the glowing wishing stations. Brookfield will donate $1, up to $25,000, for every wish sent during the holiday season to Little Essentials, a New York City based non-profit that improves the health, safety, and well-being of children living in poverty by providing urgently needed resources and parenting education to families in crisis.

November 30; December 1-2: New York Theatre Ballet: Keith Michael’s The Nutcracker

Performed by the New York Theatre Ballet, Keith Michael’s innovative choreography is set to Tchaikovsky’s classic score in this holiday masterpiece that will delight all who visit Brookfield Place. The acclaimed dance company will present four performances in the Winter Garden. Seating is first-come, first-served and early arrival is strongly suggested.

·         Friday, November 30: 7- 8 pm

·         Saturday, December 1: 1-2 pm & 7-8 pm

·         Sunday, December 2: 1-2 pm

December – January: Deck the Halls – Holiday Runway

This year, Brookfield Place retailers will “Deck the Halls” with the most stylish holiday trees Lower Manhattan has ever seen. This fashion runway is the perfect Instagram-friendly photo moment.

December 2: Stars United at The Rink at Brookfield Place

The 4th Annual Holiday season show, Stars United, is back at The Rink at Brookfield Place. With skating and dance music icons, Stars United seamlessly fuses Olympic ice dancing with electronic dance music stars and iconic vogue dancers, all directed by celebrity image-maker Karl Giant. 

·         Show: 6-7 pm; free to attend, no registration needed.

·         Skating with the Stars United: 7-8:30 pm; visit gpice.com to register.
