The TWA Hotel, the newest hotel in the JFK airport, is not just another “airport-hotel” but a retro, 60s inspired, destination of fun and nostalgia. The Trans World Airline is getting a rebirth from its closing down in 2001 and is reopening as a hotel that will take back into the past. Opening in 1962, TWA was originally a terminal but much more, an attraction for it impeccable architecture and aesthetics. As a hotel now, guests are transported into the 60s and can experience the luxuries that this hotel has to offer. Hospitality industry leader, Gerber Group is operating The Sunken Lounge, The Pool Bar & Observation Deck, and Connie, which are just a few of the bars and attractions at this highly anticipated hotel.

The Sunken Lounge reignites the magic of Eero Saarinen’s landmark 1962 TWA Flight Center, restored as the premier lobby bar. “Drink in the spirit of the glamorous sixties with retro cocktails and swizzle sticks once enjoyed in-flight.” The menu is stocked with 1960s cocktail favorites, including the Old Fashioned (whiskey and bitters) and the Aviation (Crème Yvette, Maraschino liqueur and gin). To honor TWA, Gerber Group offers the official Sunken Lounge Martini (served with TWA flight wings) and the Howard Hughes (Hennessy V.S.O.P Privilège, Crème de Violette, fresh lemon juice and ginger). Be sure to order, The Come Fly With Me, inspired by Frank Sinatra’s 1958 album cover and garnished with a rainbow of swizzle sticks modeled after TWA’s original set.

The Pool Bar & Observation Deck boasts a 63-by-20-foot infinity edge pool (turned heated pool-cuzzi in colder months) with unparalleled views of multiple JFK runways. The Pool Bar & Observation Deck will also be serving food from a full kitchen and cocktails including a Mile High Spritz (vodka, St. Germain elderflower liqueur, fresh lime juice and prosecco) and a Watermelon Collins (Aviation gin, watermelon and lemon juices, agave and club soda) which will for sure complement those amazing views.

Connie, one of only four Lockheed Constellation L-1649A left in the world, transports you back into 1958. Step onto the tarmac and aboard her renovated cabin, where vintage-inspired cocktails flow and snacks are served with a smile.
