A Wine Adventure: The Best Wineries in New York State

Want to relax and sip on some delicious wine as the seasons and colors change? Luckily for you, New York is home to some of the most beautiful fall scenery and some absolutely gorgeous wineries. Take the time to enjoy a flight of wine, some breathtaking views, and incredible company at some of the best wineries in New York State—we’ve listed a few of our favorites below!

Dr. Konstantin Frank Wines

9749 Middle Rd., Hammondsport

Since its conception in 1962, Dr. Frank’s wines have influenced America’s wine culture by creating spectacular dry rieslings other wineries strive for. Now, the winery is one of the best in the Finger Lakes region, and it consistently wins awards—it has been New York’s Most Award-Winning Winery since its conception. Make a reservation on the terrace and sip on their wines while enjoying the beautiful view of Keuka Lake.

Brotherhood Winery

100 Brotherhood Plaza Dr., Washingtonville

The oldest operating winery in the United States, Brotherhood Winery has been producing wine for nearly 200 years. Coming here is a true adventure; you’ll have the opportunity to explore the underground cellars, which were excavated by hand and used during the Prohibition. The winery also has numerous events year-round that are perfect for any gathering, and their wines range from classic to unique.

Spring Lake Winery

7373 Rochester Rd., Lockport

Located near Niagara Falls and offering 78 acres for private outdoor tastings and weddings, Spring Lake Winery is one of our favorites on the Niagara Wine Trail. If you’re feeling a bit more adventurous, a train can take you through the countryside and to the winery for dinner, live music at the lake, and some sort of show. Spring Lake specialize in dry rieslings, zinfandels, and merlots.

Wagner Vineyards Estate Winery

Winery 9322, NY-414, Lodi

Offering more than 30 wines, Wagner Vineyards Estate Winery is sure to have something to suit any palate. They grow all the grapes used to produce their wine, so you know you’re getting the best of the best. When you visit, they leave the tasting choices up to the customer so that everyone can select the wines they’ll enjoy most. If you have beer-lovers with you, don’t worry—there’s a brewery here as well.

Bedell Cellars

36225 NY-25, Cutchogue

Want to try some wine from the winery that served the 2013 U.S. Presidential Inauguration? Head to Bedell Cellars, a beautiful winery on Long Island that focuses on sustainable farming methods and small-batch processes. You won’t want to leave the picture-perfect outdoor pavilion; it’s the most incredible place to sip on some of their refreshing wines.

Bashakill Vineyards

1131 S Rd., Wurtsboro

We had to include Bashakill Vineyards on our list for quite a few reasons. It’s more than just a winery—it’s a place for a day of adventure, as well. Bashakill has live music, ping-pong and cornhole, hiking trails, kayaking, and, of course, delicious wines. Looking for something even more unique? Try out their organic sparkling lavender wine—it’s a must-have!

Remember to drink responsibly and never drive drunk—understand how alcohol affects your body and take the necessary precautions to enjoy a safe day of sipping. What better way to end your day than with a safe trip home?
