A Kentucky Christmas: Winter Activities You Have To Try
If you are looking at spending Christmas in and around Kentucky this year, one of the things you will want to think about is what activities they have on in the run up to the big day to help you feel super festive and get everyone into the spirit of Christmas. Here are some of the top activities you can enjoy all the way through December to make your Christmas feel that much longer!
A Charlie Brown Christmas
If you love the theatre and you fancy having a trip out with your family this December you can visit the Jenny Wiley Theatre in Pikeville and watch their production of A Charlie Brown Christmas. It is a fun night out for the whole family and will be the ideal way to get into the festive spirit with the kids. Make the day even better by grabbing a quick meal together before you go!
Watch The Lights At Bowling Green
If you always enjoy watching towns and cities switching on the festive lights you can make sure to stay at the Best Western Plus Bowling Green and take a walk to Fountain Square to watch them switch on their illuminations. You can celebrate along with the locals as the whole area becomes full of festive spirit ready for the rest of the year.
Candy Cane Hunt
If you have young children and you are looking for a great way to get them into the festive spirit throughout December a fun idea would be to head over to Paducah and enjoy trying to find over 1000 candy canes which have been hidden throughout. It can also be a good idea to bring a bag or two because the kids will win prizes for finding candy canes throughout the month. The event begins on the 5th December so it is the ideal way to make December feel festive!
Twilight Christmas Parade
For anyone who has ever watched ‘Jingle All The Way’ and have wanted to experience the fun of a festive parade first hand, this Berea parade is one which you will definitely want to take time out to visit. It’s on December 5th and starts at 5pm and you will be able to enjoy dancers, performers and local community floats running through the streets. They have a new theme every year and for 2018 it is ‘Miracle On Chestnut Street.’ Grab some snacks and wrap up warm to enjoy the show!
Tree Lighting
On the 12th December if you don't have any plans for the day you can come and visit Hopkinsville and see the Christmas tree lit up for the world to see. It’s a great way to end a day visiting the town and you can go and watch the lighting of the tree with all of the local residents and really celebrate the beginning of the festive period.
LEGO Display
LEGO seems to be everywhere these days and especially with the recent success of movies and games everyone loves these little building bricks. On December 31st Newport Levee are hosting a Brickmas event where they will have a giant LEGO festive display for everyone to enjoy. It means if after the big day you want to hang onto that festive spirit you can do here!
