The New England area is brimming with fun adventures, beautiful sights, and enchanting atmospheres. Visiting a New England town is like stepping into a fairytale—you’ll never want to leave. Take a much-needed break and create your own spectacular trip to this gorgeous area—here we’ve listed out a few of our favorite New England weekend getaways. Check them out!

1.      Nantucket, MA

One of the most popular New England islands, Nantucket should definitely be on your bucket list. The small island is teeming with exciting things to do and gorgeous sights to see. There are endless reasons to visit Nantucket—from the delicious seafood to the gorgeous sunsets, it’s truly the best destination for a vacation.

2. Portsmouth, NH

Claimed to be the third oldest city in the country, in 1623, early settlers made a home for themselves in Portsmouth. This makes it the perfect, quaint little spot for history lovers. It’s a wonderful little waterside town with museums, coastline beaches, and the region’s leading concert venue. Regularly listed on various “best places to live” lists, you should travel to the sweet town of Portsmouth as soon as possible.

3. Block Island, RI

Miles of beaches and breathtaking lighthouses are just a few things you’ll fall in love with on Block Island. The majority of the island consists of protected land, so you can admire untouched seaside views that are hard to find anywhere else. Sure, the island makes an exciting day trip, but we recommend taking the time to explore all the adventure Block Island has to offer with a weekend full of delight.

Everyone who visits East Coast’s Portland raves about it. It’s known for its delectable food, picture-perfect views, and a captivating atmosphere—this area has everything people love about New England towns. One of the best places to visit in Maine, it should definitely be on your weekend getaway list. It may even become your annual vacation spot—and for good reason!

5. Westerly, RI

It may not have the most unique name, but this southwestern town more than makes up for its namesake. Its vibrant personality makes this beachfront community one you’ll never want to leave. Wander the historic downtown area, pop in at the various quaint shops, admire the numerous art galleries—whatever you fancy, you’re sure to stay relaxed in Westerly.

6. Franconia Notch State Park, NH

Though this isn’t a town, per se, it sure is a wonderful New England weekend trip. Located in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, Franconia Notch State Park is the perfect spot for those who enjoy hiking. The hikes are some of the best on the East Coast—many visitors go to take in the beauty of the New England night sky without all the light pollution. Head here during the fall for some of the most gorgeous natural color palettes you’ve ever seen.

7. Provincetown, MA

One of the prettiest coastal towns, Provincetown has a little something for everyone—bustling nightlife, sandy beaches, and many fine restaurants. Take a walk along Snail Road, a wonderful hidden gem of the Cape Cod seashore, for some enthralling solitude. Then head to the beaches, pack a picnic, and soak up the sunshine. No matter how you spend your trip, you’re sure to never forget it.
